On Monday, I received my VeganCuts October Beauty Box in the mail! This month, the theme was Falling for Beauty. Here's what it included:
Included is Jersey Shore Cosmetics Gold Leaf Highlighter ($15 value), Luxie Beauty Detailed Angled Brush ($12 value), The Ariel Co. Aricole Hair Mask ($13 value), Le Beurre Shop Vanilla Shea Body Cream ($7.50 value), October Fields Lip Balm ($3.50 value) and True Moringa Peppermint body oil ($2 value.) That's a whopping $49.50 value, for a box that costs $19.95! This month you definitely get your moneys worth.
First up, the Jersey Shore Cosmetics Gold Leaf Highlighter.
This is a full size product. This versatile product can be used anywhere to add a pop of shimmer; lips, cheekbones, decolletage, shoulders, you name it. It contains all natural ingredients including shea butter, Vitamin E, and argan oil. The color comes from real gold leaves, nothing artificial here! I think highlighter is an awesome thing that can really change your look from dull to luminous. I don't use it often, but considering this is just a stick you apply, and I don't need to fuss with anymore tools in the morning, I'm excited to check this one out. You can find this on their website, along with their other products if you want to check them out!
Next up, the Luxie Beauty Detailed Angled Brush.
This is another full size item. This brush is really sleek, and the bristles are super soft. Even before I went vegan I always preferred cruelty free brushes because A) real animal hair is not meant for us to use for anything and B) they're so unsanitary. I really love the fun pink handle. From what the description says, this brush is meant for contouring hard to reach small areas. This company has a lot of makeup brushes for pretty much any makeup need, and with reasonable price tags. Definitely check them out!
Next up, The Ariel Co. Hair Mask.
I am so stoked to try this one out. First, Ariel is one of my favorite Disney characters and if I had to guess, mermaids are my spirit animal. The scent is so lovely. It's made with 5 essential oils (coconut, kukui nut, castor, grapeseed, and avocado oil), and tropical fragrance to really give it that mermaid vibe. This is a pre-wash mask, so you apply it to your hair for 30 minutes then shower and wash it out. It makes your hair soft, supple, shiny, and if you apply it to the scalp can help promote hair growth! Considering I'm getting married in less than a week, I will absolutely be using this a few times before then so I can get some luscious mermaid locks! They offer this in different sizes on their website, as well as some lip scrubs so check them out!
Next up, Le Beurre Shop Vanilla Shea Butter Body Cream.
I want to point this out to you, in case like me, you went into this thinking it smelled good. It does not. This shea butter is unrefined, and it has a smokey smell to it. Like, it reminded me of pepperoni and I wanted to gag if I'm being completely honest. I asked three other people to smell it and they didn't smell pepperoni, so maybe I'm crazy. But the smoke smell is strong. However, after doing some research, I discovered that apparently unrefined shea butter, which is what this is, has the smokey smell to it because of how it is made. Refined does not. This smell is totally natural. So, I felt a little less crazy once I learned that, since everyone thought I was nuts when I said pepperoni. Despite all of this, I was totally willing to try it because I know how moisterizing shea butter is. A little definitely goes a long way. It's super creamy, and has like a whipped texture. It really does moisterize well, and takes awhile to absorb so it's not something you can just put on and go. I applied it to my hands and my legs just to see, and my legs are still soft this morning. The smell almost completely dissipates after it's applied to your skin. So, if you can bear with the smell, and you want real skin hydration you can feel, definitely try this. They offer other scents on their website, as well as an unscented one, if you want to check them out! They have a 4 oz for $14, and an 8 oz for $22. They also have face cream and lip balm as well!
Speaking of lip balm, next up is the October Fields Lip Balm.
Lip balm is just my most favorite thing ever. This one I haven't tried, primarily because I have 867438759823 lip balms open right now and I'm really determined to finish them before I open a new one. This balm is the third full size product in this box! There is no artificial flavors on ingredients in this balm, which means that the pumpkin seed oil that's included in the ingredients list should really pop, and I can't wait to try it. I have a feeling I will give in and open this probably immediately.
Last but certainly not least is the True Moringa Peppermint body oil.
Peppermint oil is known for it's soothing properties. This oil is really for body and hair, so it's multipurposeful. It's got antiaging properties and hydration properties. You can use it to help with stretchmarks during pregnancy, cuticle oil for dry cuticles, make up base, and make up remover, according to their website. This lightweight oil is easily absored and won't clog pores, so it's ideal for every skin type. However, I won't be putting it on my face because I'm not risking my face breaking out before my wedding! Either way, this stuff sounds awesome and I look forward to trying it. This sample size was 1 dram, which I didn't even know was a thing. The full 2 oz size is $29, and available in different scents, which you can purchase on their website.
Overall, I think this box was totally worth the price. You got a lot of awesome stuff you might never have thought to try. I'm impressed with it. And I think you will be too!
I'm sad to say, unfortunately, that I'll be canceling either one or both of my beauty boxes due to financial reasons. We're trying to save up for a honeymoon, which we plan on going to Disneyworld next year, and for now that's what all (if any) of our extra money will be going to. Don't worry though, I'll still be blogging about awesome cool stuff I get! This blog is for all things vegan and cruelty free, so there's plenty to work with!
