I always have such a hard time finding a blush that A) looks natural on my face and B) lasts throughout the day. Plus, I prefer pressed blush, as I prefer all my makeup in pressed form. And, I've been having a hard time trying to find a vegan pressed blush in general, let alone one that I think would suit me best. Along comes Too Faced with a new blush called Love Flush. This blush is supposed to be long wearing, fade proof, and smudge proof for up to 16 hours, which now a days is about how long the average women's day is. I got the shade: How Deep Is Your Love?
First, let's start with how much I love the packaging. I know that shouldn't matter, and really it doesn't, but I am a sucker for cute things. Here's what it looks like:
I love the heart shaped compact. I love that the compact color matches the color of the blush. And what I love the most is the super cute design on the blush! Look how adorable it is! It's so pretty and I just adore the cute little bunnies! I hate to actually use it and lose the design lol. Here's two more pictures in case you also can't get enough of how cute the design is:
Love Flush comes in six universally flattering shades. They range from a coral shade (I Will Always Love You), to a bubblegum pink (Justify My Love.) In between is a pink coral called Love Hangover, and a pink mauve called Baby Love. How Deep Is Your Love and Your Love is King are the two vegan shades. Your Love is King is the darkest shade of the six, and it's like a mauvy shade, which I think is a really pretty shade. I had a hard time choosing, but How Deep is Your Love is the shade I chose. It's like a bright watermellony pink, and it's definitely the brightest shade of the bunch. It doesn't look as artificial as I think a lot of blushes do. This shade makes me think of when you get just a smidge burnt on your cheeks and the top of your nose in the summer time. Or when you come inside from being out on a cold winter's day. It's a really beautiful shade.
It's very pigmented so that a little goes a long way. So much so that I went a little heavy handed this morning because I'm used to my old blush, and I looked a little like Mimi from The Drew Carey Show. The plus side to this is that, while the price is a little on the high end ($26), it really will last you a long time, unless looking like Mimi is your thing, in which case I'm not judging. It went on smooth and looked natural. I had little fall off my makeup brush, which is great, because that shows me that the product clings to your skin really well.
Overall, I'm a fan of this blush. I love that it'll last me awhile because at $26 a pop, I couldn't afford to buy it often. I think the color is flattering for my skin tone. Like I mentioned above, I wish that all the shades were vegan so I could have an array of colors to choose from. Just like with bronzer, your blush color can change depending on the season too. What looks good on your pale winter skin may not be as flatterning on your sun kissed summer skin. I just don't understand if they can do two shades vegan, why not the rest? You don't need carmine to create a rich color payoff. They managed to incorporate vegan Squalene, which is a common animal ingredient (derived from sharks) in a lot of cosmetics. That's my one real downfall with these blushes, and Too Faced in general. I love that they're cruelty free, and I love that they offer vegan options. But go big or go home. If you can do some vegan, you can do all vegan. But, that's just my opinion.
I definitely think it's worth checking out if you're in the market for a new blush!
