I love small businesses. When you buy from small businesses, you tend to get more personalized service, and I find that their products are often hand crafted and in small batches. You really notice the attention to detail more. Not that big companies aren't good, of course they are, that's why they're big companies. But, it's nice to give your money to a small company trying to make it. So, while I was browsing through Instagram looking for some new cruelty free and vegan brands, I stumbled upon The Fanciful Fox.
They are a small company based out of Brooklyn NY. They offer a variety of skin care products like lip balms, soaps, scrubs, shampoos, conditioners, moisterizers, and even soy wax candles. I have tried a few things from them, but I look forward to trying more. Today, I'm going to focus on their Hand Crafted Skin Repair Salve Overnight Skin Therapy for Dry Eczema-Esque Skin.
I have tried about 84738472 things for my eczema and most times it doesn't do much. I try to avoid things like corticosteriods and actual medicine because I don't want to put those kind of chemicals in or on my body. So, when I saw this salve I figured I would give it a try. It contains a luxe blend of plant oils and butters.
The ingredients are: organic olive oil, organic jojoba oil, grape seed oil, organic and fair trade cocoa butter, candelilla wax, and organic coconut oil. Based off those ingredients I knew it would be not only good for my eczema, but also would be non-irritating on my eczema patches, which are irritated already. These ingredients are truly moisterizing and good for your skin. No harsh chemicals or irritants. I loved that it was all natural and mostly organic. I was sold. I ordered it and anxiously awaited its arrival.
Once I received it, I used it right away on my naturally drier areas, like my elbows and my knees and my feet, and on my poor super dry hands. It doesn't have much of a smell, but you get the slighest scent of cocoa butter, but like that real cocoa butter smell since there's no fragrance or perfumes in it, you smell authentic cocoa. It's not strong at all, it's barely noticeable. The texture is thick, kind of like Vaseline but slightly thicker, but it melts naturally with the warmth of your skin, so it goes on easy and absorbs easy. It takes a little while to fully absorb into your skin, so you want to make sure when you apply it you don't have to do much for a bit while it absorbs. Once it absorbs fully, your skin feels nice and smooth. I apply it to my hands at night, especially in the colder month when they're really beat, and when I wake up my hands feel smooth. Both in the summer and winter, I apply it to my feet to avoid any dryness or cracking. And whenever you feel like you need a little something more than lotion, apply it there.
Even though the jars are only 2 oz., a little of this goes a long way so you can make it last, depending on how often and where you use it. The jars are made of glass, which it great because you can totally reuse or repurpose them! The best part of all of everything? It only costs $8! So, if you're looking for cost effective, you found it. You can find this on their website, and also VeganCuts sells some of their products.
Hope you enjoy!
