I know I've mentioned this before, but Kat Von D is my legit woman crush. I friggin love her. I love her style, I love her tattoos, I love her cats, I love her books and how open she is in them, I love how she views life, and I love that she's vegan! Now that she's fully dedicated to a cruelty free beauty line, and is in the process of making all of her beauty products vegan. But do you know what she recently brought back that is both cruelty free AND vegan?
Her Saint and Sinner perfumes! Can I just tell you how obsessed with these I was when they first came out way in the back when? This was before I was vegan, and wasn't fully aware of parent companies and how that affects cruelty free status, but I bought her palette which was like a book, and literally never used any of the makeup because it was so pretty, aside from the perfume.
When I heard they were not only coming out with a new vegan and cruelty free version of Saint and Sinner, but also that the bottles were designed by KVD herself and friggin beautiful, I was smitten. I mean like, LOOK AT THESE BOTTLES!
I ordered the 10ml bottles which were $22 a piece. I want to splurge on the bigger ones now because basically, I'm obsessed.
I've seen some reviews from people complaining since they changed the formula it's not the same blah blah. I swear some people just see the word vegan and instantly it's like NOPE IT'S DIFFERENT! 🙄 That's fine by me, the less you ignorant misinformed close minded grumps buy, the more for me to buy! 👋🏼
Anyway, the short version is, I'm in love. The whole point of these perfumes is to work in unison with each other, there's two sides to every person and these perfumes compliment the two sides. Sometimes you might be feeling rather Saintly, so you just use that, other time you may be a little more naughty and you use just Sinner. Sometimes you mix them, more of one less of the other. It's really fun like that. It's a great concept and I totally dig it.
Let's talk scents. Saint is the softer of the two. The description on her website says it best:
"Meet Saint – dreamy, romantic and alluring, this candied floral fragrance is inspired by Kat’s own duality. Our fearless leader is tough and tattooed on the outside, but totally sweet at heart! This gourmand perfume fuses jasmine and Tiaré flower top notes with a delicious heart of mandarin, caramel, and sparkling Mirabelle plum. Vanilla, sandalwood, and creamy musk build to the romance of the fragrance, imparting a warmth that reminds Kat of falling in love for the very first time. Saint is a poetic exploration of the lesser-known, softer side of Kat Von D!"
This is my favorite scent of the two, even with the floral notes. It's soft but makes a statement. Because it is a gourmand perfume, with lots of my favorite scents, it really won my heart at first sniff.
Next up is Sinner, the more sultry scent of the two.
Again, here's a description from her website, which again, says it best:
"Meet Sinner -- dark, sultry, and empowering, this addictive fragrance is inspired by Kat’s own duality. A little sweet, a little spicy, and undeniably fearless! Cinnamon spices up vanilla and white florals at the heart of the fragrance, while base notes of vetiver, patchouli, and wood form the deeper, darker nuances. Experience confidence in a bottle – Sinner is the fragrant embodiment of the edgy, unapologetic, and outspoken Kat Von D we know and love!"
On paper, I should not be a fan of this. There's few scents I dislike more than patchouli, and add that with more florals, I definitely shouldn't like it. But something about it, perhaps the complexity of the scents themselves and the different layers, I'm actually a fan. I like Saint better, but I still really like this.
My usual is 2 sprays of Saint, two sprays of Sinner, and one final spray of Saint. I find that to be my perfect blend. The scent lasts all day. Kevin's specifically said "what are you trying to attract a mate smelling like that?!" Lol. And after it's settled into my skin and meshed with my own natural essence, it's just beautiful. They both really work well with my body chemistry.
I remember seeing somewhere as well that there will be a Saint and Sinner eye shadow palette at some point, and whenever that happens, I will also be purchasing that, whenever that may be.
I can't recommend these fragrances enough. So check them out. I can't believe they haven't sold out yet. I ordered mine like first thing in the morning as soon as they were available. My excitement was too real to wait lol. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
