By now, you guys already know how much I love the Tea Rose Finishing Powder by Modern Minerals. I was super sad when my sample ran out, but I knew I had a sample of Pearl Finishing Dust by Everyday Minerals to try. I actually have a sample pack I got awhile back that I've yet to use. It has 2 mineral bases (to find your shade), bronzer, and this finishing dust. I plan on using the bases and bronzer shortly, like on a day when I'm just home or running errands to see how they are. But for now, I wanted to review the finishing dust.
I personally feel that finishing powder with a pearl finish, not a matte finish, really does a lot to your complexion. And it really finishes your makeup look. I would say 99% of the population have skin imperfections, and the pearl finishes diffuse light and help to hide those imperfections. Often times, for my skin personally, I feel a matte finishing powder makes my face look dull and lackluster. I know it works wonders if you have extremely oily skin, which I don't, but in general, I just feel like a little shimmer makes all the different.
How does this powder stack up? I would say pretty good. There's not a whole lot of shimmer, but there's plenty to get the job done. I'm not trying to look like I just went to a rave. The powder itself is super fine, so it glides effortlessly over your skin. It doesn't mess up my makeup when I apply it. They offer different colors, depending on your skin tone, but this one is right for mine. It's translucent and it has neutral undertones. Like I mentioned above, they offer other options with more pink or peach, depending on your skin tone. I haven't had any issues with itching or breaking out, which I know can sometimes happen depending on the ingredients or the product and your skin type. All Everyday Minerals products are created without petro chemicals, lake dyes, bismuth oxychloride (a big culprit in making your skin itch from makeup), synthetic fragrances, SLS, mineral oil, or paraffin wax. The regular size is .17 oz and costs $15, but they have a mini size that is .06 oz and is $10. Either option is super affordable. I didn't like the little pouch the sample came in, truth be told. But, I have an old compact from my Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation (as you can see above) that I use the bottom part of, where the sponge was, and dumped the whole pouch in there and use it that way. It's much easier and less messier. I wish the samples came in little tiny jars, like a lot of other samples do, but that's my only minor complaint. Otherwise, I love the stuff and I look forward to using it daily!
