I first received a sample of Main Couture blush and highlighter in one of my Petit about boxes. I really loved how simple it was to apply, so when I saw there 4th of July sale for 25% off and free shipping I was sold.
The colors we got in the Petit Vour box were Sunset Blvd. for the Blush paper and St. Bart's for the Highlighter paper. I went with Crystal Cove this time for the highlighter to try something different. They also sent me a free Blush sample again in Sunset Blvd.
The full size highlighter paper is about double the size of the samples, and the sample are still a decent size. They come in this cute little book, ready to go!
Crystal Cove, as you can see above, is like a pure highlighter, whereas the St. Bart's I felt had more pigment to it, so it was like 1/4 blush and 3/4 highlighter. Because of this, Crystal Cove would be flattering on any skin tone. I'm a big highlighter fan. I think it makes your skin look healthier, it reflects the light so your skin looks clearer, and it just adds a pop for where you need it.
One of the reasons I enjoy this brand so much is that I love how easy it is to apply. Like, you can't mess it up. Basically, you tear out a sheet, which if you're OCD like me, you'll appreciate how neatly the papers tear out from the book! Then, you rip the sheet in half. Then apply using light pressure at first to avoid going overboard wherever you want some shimmer. Face, neck, body, you name it. If you want more color, simply apply more pressure. That's it. No brush necessary. If you do go heavy handed, simply use a brush (I use my fan brush) to dust some away. Like, it's that easy. Here's my before and after:
The before photo my face is kind of shimmery because I use Modern Mineral's Tea Glow finishing powder, but you can tell the obvious difference after and that's with literally only a few pats.
I don't use a lot, so each half sheet last me several uses. With 50 full sheets per pack, this is gonna last me for awhile! They're $18 regularly, but I got mine for $13.50 with the sale. Even at regular price, if you use them just on your face, it's so worth the money.
The only thing to be mindful of is that when you tear the papers out and handle them, you can get some shimmer on and around you. Personally, I don't mind, I just pat my fingers where I want to add more shimmer. But, I wanted to let you guys know regardless.
If you're an on the go person, who doesn't have time or patience to be fiddling with all these makeup brushes, do yourself a favor and check out Mai Couture. In addition to blush and highlighter they also have bronzer, foundation, and a cute little wallet to carry them in. Follow them on IG too so you never miss a sale!
