So I finally made a full size order from Illuminare Cosmetics, some after using their samples (which I still have but it was free shipping for the holiday so I ordered it now), I'm basically in love with it. The coverage is great, I can mix the colors to get the right shade for me, there's different finishes so you can really use whichever finish suites you best depending on the time of year. I bought the Concealing and Mattifying Portifino Porcelain. I will be ordering the Moisturzing Florentine Fair once I run out of samples. I also ordered the Fast Application Pad, which is what I'll be reviewing today.
The cheetah print design is just a design, that parts not usable. I will say, right off the bat, that I would rather have a two sided usable paid, versus a one sided usable pad with a decorative other side. That's my first point.
Secondly, it is very soft. I imagine that it wouldn't cause any issues with application despite the kind of skin you have. There's no tugging or pulling or having to really push the foundation on your skin. It glides gently over your skin.
The middle is meshy, and you can feel it when you press on it. It's supposed to be antimicrobial, and the meshy middle it supposed to not absorb product, so there's less waste of the product. I do find that to be true. I was using more with my beauty blender than with this pad. I used my regular amount the first time and it was too much on the pad. So that's a really great bonus.
It's actually surprisingly large, about the size of the palm of my hand. It looks much smaller on the website. It's almost tear drop shaped. So you have that pointed tip to allow you to get the corners of your eyes, under your eyes, around your nose, and what not. It's a great shape to get your entire face, even the little spots.
I haven't tried to wash it, so I can't attest if it will hold up. I've only used it twice. They say you can machine wash it, but that seems iffy. I'll just hand wash it.
It's only $10 which isn't bad at all. Makeup brushes and beauty blenders can be pretty expensive, so $10 is nothing. It does make my skin looks more airbrushed and even. I like using it better than the beauty blender. You can even pat it on your skin to get that little extra coverage for those spots that need it. $10 well spent!
This foundation is by far my favorite foundation I've ever used. And spending an extra $10 to apply it the best way I can, I'm good with that!
