Tis the season for whip on everything. Pies, cakes, cookies, pastries, with a spoon; you name it. Maybe you're a vegan, maybe you're looking for something more natural, or maybe you just want to step your whip game up. Enter: CocoWhip by So Delicious. This topping is an excellent replacement for Cool Whip. Below is the ingredients list, and the nutrition facts:
What you need to know is that coconut is a fattening food, and it's got a high calorie content. So it's not like eating CocoWhip is better for you in the fact that you can eat the whole tub and not gain as much weight as if you ate a tub of Cool Whip. But, the ingredients are better and more natural in the CocoWhip than Cool Whip, which is chock full of high fructose corn syrup and sugars.
I also want to mention, if you ever buy this or any other frozen product from So Delicious, how to understand their expiration date system. Their refrigerated products are all regular, with a day, a month, and a year. How their frozen products work are they use something called the Julian calendar. It's extremely confusing at first, and weird in my opinion, but my husband works with produce and he says they use it all the time. If you look at the bottom photo you see above, you see the numbers "15189" and those are the numbers you want to look at. That means on the 189th day of the year 2015, this CocoWhip was made. In this case, July 8th, 2015. So Delicious's frozen products have a shelf life of 2 years if stored properly. This CocoWhip is stored frozen, then when you're ready to use it you let it thaw for 4 hours in the fridge, and you have up to 10 days to consume it. If you can make a tub of CocoWhip last 10 days, you're a better person than I am.
This stuff, like the name says, is SO DELICIOUS! The texture is just like that of Cool Whip. It's a tub of fluffy goodness. You can use this in any recipe you would use Cool Whip. What you should know is that, obviously, it tastes like coconut. It's basically like whipped coconut milk. Personally, I think that makes it taste better than Cool Whip. It's not overbearing or too much, it's just right. I don't think that it's too coconutty that if you used it in a recipe that it would take away from any other flavor. I remember Cool Whip was super sweet, sometimes too sweet. And this stuff just has a subtle sweetness to it. Coconut is subtly sweet in general. This stuff also tastes real, because it's made with real natural ingredients!
I mixed it this morning into my berry bowl as part of my breakfast, and it was just so so good. I was half tempted to put it on my toast just so I could have more! Then tonight, I took a spoon and just ate some more out of the tub lol. You could spread this on a flip flop and that flip flop would taste good.
I absolutely recommend this stuff. I have no idea how much it costs because I saw it and just bought it because it looked so good. And it's worth every penny, however many pennies it costs.
