While browsing my local Target (like I do a few times a week because its Target), I was checking out some of their new products and came across these Chia Bar snacks by Health Warrior. They were on sale so I figured I would check them out! I got two flavors: Banana Nut and Chocolate Peanut Butter. Yum!
I decided to do a list of pros and cons for you guys. This list applies to both flavors.
-Both flavors were super tasty. I liked the Banana Nut just a tad more than the Chocolate Peanut Butter. Both flavors were very real, not artificial. The ingredients are very natural. The banana had dried bananas in them, and the chocolate peanut butter had real chocolate chips and peanuts in them! I loved it!
-Only 100 calories per bar!
-They offer 4g of fiber 3g of protein, which is great when added to an already healthy diet.
-They also offer 1100g of Omega-3, which helps to reduce bad cholesterol and keep your heart in tip top shape!
-They're also gluten free!
-Chia is a super food and it's great to have a bar that's so convenient to eat so you can get the health benefits of chia wherever you go! I know you can put them in beverages, yogurts, oatmeal, etc.. but I love having them in a bar for the convenience factor.
-It's not messy at all. No crumbs!
-Even though they're facility makes non-vegan products they state "Good manufacturing practices are used to segregate ingredients in a facility that processes other products.." And it lists nuts, dairy, and eggs. So that makes me feel good knowing they understand keeping cross contamination to a minimum for both vegan purposes and allergy purposes.
-Despite the size on the front, they were way tinier than I anticipated when I bought them. Like I don't know how much 25 grams is in size when it refers to food.
-The price is high considering how small they are. You get 5 of these tiny bars per back. They were on sale at Target which is why I bought them. But even the sale was 2 for $8 which I feel is expensive all things considered.
-The bars are super chewy and they stick to your teeth. And the chia seeds get stuck too. I feel like I need to brush my teeth after I eat one.
-They're not a great snack on their own if you're hungry and want something to hold you over, say between breakfast and lunch. You would need to pair this with like an apple or a banana, something with a little more density. I tried it and still felt hungry.
Bottom Line: While I did enjoy these tasty little snacks, I don't think I would repurchase for the price reason alone. The price to the size just doesn't justify it. If I were to find them for a great sale price, then I definitely would because they have a lot of pros. But in this case, it wasn't enough to outdue the price.
