I've been following Aubrey Organics since I received a sample of their hair spray in my Vegan Cuts box last year. They've been doing these giveaways on their Facebook page to win various items. I was fortunate enough to win a shaving cream of my choice! How exciting right?! I'm super excited to review it for you!
First off, here's some deets about Aubrey Organics: they're a cruelty free vegetarian company, with a lot of vegan products. They have labels on every product that tell you if it's vegetarian or vegan, so it's fool proof to differentiate between the two. They're organic and use only all natural ingredients. They use nothing artificial. That means that you won't find any: sulfates, parabens, silicones, PVP, mineral oil, phthalates, or artificial thickeners or colors. They make everything by hand in small batches of 50 gallons or less. They even have a dictionary on their website so if you see something you're unsure of, you can look it up, which is awesome. They've been featured in several well known magazines as well! They have a ton of products from hair care, to skin care, to face care, and even men's and baby products. All of their products come with 100% satisfaction guaranteed, so if you try something and hate it, you can get a refund or try something else! Win win!
When I won the giveaway, I got to choose the scent I wanted. I chose the Toasted Almond because it sounded like it would smell amazing! I was right, it does. However, it doesn't smell "toasted" to me. That doesn't change my mind about the scent, I still love it. It's a natural and subtly sweet smell. The scent doesn't last on your skin at all, so even if you hated it the scent, it wouldn't matter because you won't smell it after you're done shaving anyway.
As for the product itself, it is really creamy and rich. It's not a gel or a foam, it's a cream. If you have ever used Alba Botanica's Vanilla Mango shaving cream, it's almost the same consistency. This allows for a closer and more moisturizing shave than your average shaving product. You just want to make sure that you consistently rinse your razor while shaving because the texture of this product really sticks to it because it's thick. So, I did like two swipes, then rinsed, and so on and so forth until I was done shaving. Also, because of the thick consistency of this product, a little bit goes a long way. I used it on my armpits and my legs. My armpits I used about a dime size for each, and on my legs, I probably would say I used about a quarter size for each. Because it's thicker, it doesn't just wash off if you get some water on your leg, which is pretty awesome. It rinses off clean, and leaves no residue at all afterwards.
As you can see by the ingredients list, there are some really great ingredients for your skin in here. The coconut, jojoba, and olive oil definitely make your razor glide smoothly over your skin. I think those ingredients, mixed with the almond oil, are what made my skin feel so soft afterwards. I feel like I definitely got a closer shave with this than with what I usually use, which is my body wash. I shaved my legs on Thursday, and it's now Sunday and there's just a little bit of stubble. Usually, there's more than just a little stubble at this point. However, this product wasn't moisturizing enough for my skin that I could go without lotion after I shaved. I did still need to apply my regular lotion afterwards.
Overall, I am really happy with this shaving cream. I barely ever shave my legs, if I'm being honest, but I shave my armpits and whatnot every day, so using it for that this 4 oz bottle should last me a little while. I wish the bottle was a little bit bigger though. It's quite tiny, and it costs $5.77 for this 4 oz tube. It could be worse honestly, the price isn't awful. I never mind paying for a quality product with natural ingredients. I wouldn't pay less for a bigger bottle if it was just a bigger bottle of junk. If you're looking for a quality and natural shaving product, definitely check this out! Happy Shopping!
