Petit Vour celebrated their 3rd birthday this May! Yay! This box came in at a $35 value. You can see all the goodies that came in it up above!
I'm only reviewing two of the four items today because I gave the other two away. My mom loves salt spray, so I knew she would love the spray I got. And my aunt loves dark color glosses and lipsticks, so this Ecco Bella lip gloss because I knew she would love it! I did tell them both to let me know what they thought, so when they use it and I hear their thoughts, I'll be sure to update this post! For now, I'll be reviewing the Smart Ash tooth whitener and the Juice Green Apple peel.
Let's talk about the Smart Ash first!
I actually got a sample of this in a VeganCuts box I got awhile back and I never used it. Since I got another sample in this box, I figured it was time to give it a shot.
The black color has been my real deterrent for not trying it. I mean, it's black. And on the little card that comes with it they keep mentioning how it can stain your clothes and it makes a mess and I'm like.. is it gonna stain my teeth?! They stress that it doesn't, but in my Virgo worrying anxious nature, I couldn't help but think that it could.
I finally made the leap and tried it. I had to brush my teeth anyway because I had just eaten some popcorn and you know how those kernels get stuck in your teeth. All you had to do was A) be careful because it does make a mess B) wet your toothbrush and dip it in the powder (a little goes a long way) C) brush carefully over the sink or in the shower then d) brush with water for a minute and enjoy your smile!
Results: They weren't kidding about the mess. I felt like I was careful, but my sink was a mess! And my teeth! My heart, I was so scared they would never be the same!
Apparently there's mint and orange extract, which I didn't taste at all. It was just kind of meh. The charcoal is from coconut shells and then there's also calcium bentonite clay. I felt like I was brushing my teeth with just powdered clay. It didn't feel clean afterwards. And even when I brushed with water afterwards, I still had some residue on my teeth. I couldn't wait to brush my teeth with my toothpaste. I'm happy to say that my teeth aren't stained and neither is my clothes or my sink! Woo hoo!
However, I threw my samples in the trash. This might be for some people. But not for me. If it looks like your cup of tea, be sure to check them out on Instagram! You can purchase their products from their website!
Lastly, let's talk about the Juice Green Apple Peel!
I was pretty excited for this Green Apple Blemish Clearing Peel. My face has been really going banana sandwich over this passed month, from both the weather being all sorts of wacky and stress. Plus, I've been getting a lot of uneven skin tone, primarily redness, which is new for me. When they say your skin changes every year, they're not kidding. I'm 27, and my skin is so different than when I was even 25. So weird! This peel is designed to exfoliate skin and even tone while clearing pores to prevent and help breakouts. It's award winning and I was excited to see why!
On the website it says that it's not for sensitive skin because of the alpha beta hydroxy fruit acids. I was nervous to try it because of how sensitive my skin is, but I wanted to give it a shot since I was off the next day and if I got a reaction at least I could hide my face all day. Basically, you're supposed to apply a generous layer to your freshly washed face and let dry. After 10 minutes, wash it off and follow with moisturizer. Simple enough!
The texture was like jelly. The scent wasn't great, kind of like a chemically apple scent, which threw me off. Definitely avoid any open wounds or any popped pimples (guilty) because it burns, and of course, avoid your eye area! They say that tingling and flushing are normal, and I definitely can say I felt both. My face got red, as I had anticipated, but the tingling did subside towards the end of the 15 minutes.
The redness does take awhile to go away, at least on my face it did. I highly suggest using this at night before bed, by the morning your face will be back to normal. I suggest trying a patch test first, like on your inner elbow, to see how you react. And only try it like once a week for ten minutes the first time, which is what I did. I now do 15 minutes 2x a week, at night, and rinse it with cool water afterwards.
I've used this mask about 3x now, and I can honestly say I love it. Please be forewarned that some breaking out and skin purging is normal with this. The fruit acids exfoliate your skin, and when they do, the gunk that's stuck inside your pores has to come out. My cheeks broke out, which is why I knew it was purging because my cheeks never break out. Plus it was just tiny little pimples, typical of purging. The purging can last as long as it needs to for your skin to get de-gunkified. Don't be alarmed. It's normal!
This stuff makes me face incredibly soft. Like it's ridiculous. I can't say much about it lightening my dark spots yet because it's only been 3x, but I'm excited to see the long term results of this. My face overall looks and feels healthier as a result of this, so I'm hooked. I'll be buying the full size when this runs out. It's $39 and I think it'll be work every penny!
As always, another great box by Petit Vour! Check out their website to see full sizes of this month's products!
