It's been 12 days since I started using the Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing System. I know I said I would give it a month, which is the amount of time the kit I bought it supposed to last, but I think I'm ready to review it now.
At first, I was surprised by how good my face was looking. It was so soft, looking clearer, more evenly toned, and everything. I was so happy. But the more and more, my face got worse and worse. I understand skin purging. I'm no stranger to it. I know all about it, but my face isn't purging. I'm breaking out in places I literally never break out. I got a pimple on the middle of my cheek, plus a few other small ones on my cheek. One right underneath my eye socket. I got two along my jawline. And the worst one is the one I got on my upper lip. It's literally this giant red pimple with no head so I can't pop it. It hurts beyond belief, and the entire one side of my upper left lip is swollen. It looks like I got into a fist fight. As if acne isn't embarrassing enough, this is beyond embarrassing for me. I even took pictures of some of these pimples, as hard as it is for me to post them, I decided to post them to show you this is the face I'm living with right now. Basically, I'm brought to tears.
My skin is nowhere near perfect on a regular basis, but this is bad for me. I know it may not seem like a lot, but when you already have low self esteem and body issues, even small things to some are huge to others. I'm so grateful for makeup right now, because that's the only thing helping with the redness of the pimples, but nothing helps with the swelling. I've been using this every morning and every night as directed, using the peel 2x a week, and using the powder on bare skin under makeup every day. I wanted to do this the right way so I can say I did it right like I was supposed to. I really whole heartedly wanted to love this stuff. So much so. Here's my thoughts on each individual product:
The Bamboo Washcloth: This is easily my favorite part of the entire system. It's so soft, provided a gentle exfoliation, and dries faster than regular washcloths. They offer a 3 pack on the Juice Beauty website that I'll be purchasing when I get the money because I want to have several of these on hand. I love them!
The Cleanser: I felt like the cleanser was gentle on my skin. I didn't feel like it stripped me of any oils. Using it with the bamboo washcloth provided a clean feeling with a nice yet gentle exfoliation. I'm still not a huge fan of the smell, but it's tolerable.
The Serum: This is my least favorite of the whole kit. In my first post I said it left a weird sticky residue. If you use too much, it does. But a thin coat doesn't, and if you give it a few minutes to absorb then wash your hands of the serum before putting on the moisturizer, it isn't terrible. I would suggest using this as a spot treatment. But even still, I don't think it does much for the pimples. I've been suffering with these pimples, applying this stuff twice a day every day and it hasn't done a thing. Also, the smell is worse than the face wash. The packaging for this is awful too. This serum is straight water basically, and it just oozes out of the tube. So you get a puddle in the lid, and if you actually squeeze it on your finger you get entirely too much and it goops all over your hand. I don't know if the full size is packaged better, and I don't want to find out because I absolutely wouldn't repurchase.
The Moisturizer: The one pro to this is the smell. I absolutely love it. It's the only product I can say I actually enjoy the scent of. As far as the cream itself, it is entirely too heavy for someone with acne prone skin. I use half of a pea size amount, and it still leaves my face feeling oily. When I wake up in the morning after applying it at night, it looks like I dipped my face in a pot of grease. As a result, my pores are getting clogged and I think that was one of the reasons I'm breaking out so bad. I'm sad because this is one of the ones I thought I was gonna love, and wanted to love because of the smell, but I couldn't.
The Peel: I honestly do love the peel. Do I think it's doing anything for me as far as helping with my dark spots? No, I don't. I've used it enough at this point to say that. But I truly feel it makes my skin smoother and softer. It does burn when applying it, but the burning subsides when I remove it.
The Powder: I'll be honest, I'm not whole heartedly sure what this is supposed to do. I use it every day under my makeup. It's not highly pigmented, but I can see it on my face. Primarily because it's lighter than my skin. It does mattify my face, and it helps with some unevenness and redness But it doesn't conceal blemishes at all. Apparently it's supposed to help shrink pimples, but it doesn't. It's also extremely messy. I'll continue to use it until it's gone. I don't think I'll repurchase it. It's a small amount for the price, especially considering so much of it goes to waste trying to apply it.
Here's my positive thoughts about it: I'll say that the blackheads on my nose look less noticeable. My pores in general even look less noticeable.
At this point, I'm going to finish the cleanser, use my washcloth, go back to my Yes To Tomatoes Serum and Lotion because I know that won't make my face break out worse, and still use the powder under my foundation.
Once my face clears up, I'm going to look for a new system to try. Until then, wish me luck on my face!
