Ever since receiving Harvey Price Hello in my VeganCuts Box this month, I've been obsessed with wanting to try more scents. I've been on their website constantly checking out all of their fantabulous scents. From the descriptions, they have scents for everyone. The young at heart, free spirited, sultry ladies, lavender lovers, vanilla lovers, and everyone in between. I tend to gravitate towards anything with vanilla. Vanilla is my most favorite scent ever. I can't get enough vanilla. But, I'm trying to be more bold and adventurous with my scents. I'm slowly but surely branching out from my usual scents, and I'm loving it! Of course, vanilla will forever be my favorite. But variety is the spice of life right?
So I went through and read all of the different descriptions of their scents. They have a vanilla one that caught my eye, but I said NO! And, I kept looking until I came across a scent called Temptress, the scent that "flirts for you." Now, I'm getting married, so I don't care about that flirting stuff. But, when I was reading the description one of the notes in this perfume caught my eye: pumpkin pie! First, I have never seen before pumpkin in perfume. Second, I love pumpkin anything. Pumpkin in perfume screams fall to me, and I am a fall girl through and through. I was still a little hesitant because while it has pumpkin pie, cinnamon, nutmeg and ambers listed in their notes, they were pairing these sultry spicy scents with lavender, citrus, ylang ylang, freesia, and jasmine. Pumpkin pie and lavender..? All these spicy scents mixed with floral scents and citrus..? This would either be really good or really bad. But, being the pumpkin lover I am, I just had to try it.
There are 3 different ones to choose from: an 8.8ml mini roller which I chose that's $21, a. 8.8ml tall spray which is $26 (for the record, charging $5 more for a spray vs roller of the same size is crazy), and a 50ml spray for $55. When I received it, despite knowing the size, it seemed much smaller than I had pictured in my head. Also, I wish I had gotten the spray. I feel like you smell the fragrance more when you spray it because it gets all over, versus just the spots you use the roller on, so I feel like it makes more of a presence.
As for the scent: I really love it. It's not at all what I expected or honestly hoped it would be, but I think it's a really beautiful scent. It's also a familiar scent but I can't quite put my finger on it. Harvey Prince described the scent style as: seductive, sparkling, and wicked. I think that's a pretty good description. The spiciness actually layers well with the floral scents, however, the floral notes absolutely overpower the spicy notes. That's the only thing that disappoints me. In general, I steer clear from floral scented anything because I find them to smell fake, and also like an old lady would smell lol. Honestly, the florals in this are actually really pleasant. I think the spicy are the reason for that. The citrus is completely lost in this perfume. Also, I was so jazzed up for pumpkin pie, and I don't smell pumpkin pie at all.
It also has pretty good staying power. One of the places I apply this is on my wrists in the morning before I go to work. And when I leave work, if I smell my wrists, I can still smell the scent linger. Randomly throughout the day, I get little whiffs of it when I move. It's a strong scent, so I'm glad that it lasts but isn't overpowering. I think it would be too much in a large dose.
I can't really claim that it flirts for me, because I made my fiance smelled it and I asked his opinion on how it smelled, and what he thought or felt when he smelled it, and his response: it smells like perfume lol. Pumpkin and lavender, according to their website, it supposed to evoke more passion in men than any other scent. For my fiance at least, it was indifferent.
The packaging is also really elegant. Sturdy glass bottles, and the color of the bottle I feel matches the scent. It comes in a Harvey Prince perfume box, which makes it easy to wrap as a gift, or to put in a little gift bag with some tissue paper. Overall, this scent was a pleasant surprise, and I plan on repurchasing once this is empty.
You can find this and many other wonderful scents on Harvey Prince's website. I absolutely suggest signing up for emails because every other day I get a coupon code for xyz% off plus free shipping and sometimes plus a free sampler. Usually you have to spend like $30-$50 for the code to work which isn't hard to do considering the prices. The coupon codes makes it worth it to make the purchase, otherwise I feel like the prices can be high. They also have sampler sets for perfume, as well as their other beauty products, for $1+ so it's super easy and affordable to try before you buy. The perfume scents vary, so you may not be able to try all of them. Also, the samples aren't part of the amount you need to spend for the coupon codes, so just be mindful of that as you shop.
I am always on the lookout for new brands of vegan perfume. If you have any brands you love that you recommend, let's hear them!
