Dry shampoo is a life savor for me. I wash my hair 2-3x a week, depending on the season. I have naturally greasy hair, but a few years ago I trained my hair (which was not a pretty sight, let me tell you) to get my hair to be less greasy. Dry shampoo was my best friend during that time, and is still a necessity in my hair care routine.
You can almost always tell what day of my hair wash cycle it is based on how my hair is. Day 1: hair is down and straight. Day 2: dry shampoo, hair is down and straight. Day 3: more dry shampoo; pony tail. Day 4: dry shampoo, hair in a low messy bun with a head band holding my bangs back. Sometimes I braid my hair, other times I curl it, but for the most part those are my go to styles. I have no time in the morning to be fudging with my hair. Sleep is my friend! The more I can get of it, the happier I am. In order for my hair to last 4 days without washing it, I need dry shampoo.
Let me introduce you to a favorite of mine..
I thought Tabby made a good background lol.
Eva NYC is a brand I tried out last year. I had ordered something from Ulta, and got some samples with my order, and one of which was Eva NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask. I did a little research, and all of their products are cruelty free and vegan!
I was so excited I tried it the next time I washed my hair, and was so in love with it I went out to Ulta and bought it right away. Ulta was having a buy one get one half off sale, so of course, me who can't turn down a sale had to get something else. So, I picked up the hair mask and this dry shampoo. My previous brand of dry shampoo wasn't vegan, so I was on the hunt for a new one. I figured why not try it? I am so happy that I did!
To start, the smell is amazing! It's so hard to explain what it smells like because I've never smelled anything like it. It's fresh, clean, and slightly sweet. The smell is really what sold me on the hair mask, and the dry shampoo smells the exact same. My hair retains the scent nicely so every time my hair moves you can get a fainy scent of the dry shampoo.
Also, it works pretty well too. I spray it on my bangs, throughout my crown, and underneath my hair at the nape of my neck, and any other spot that could use a little freshening up. My hair gets considerably greasy. I just do a few sprays and brush it through, and voila! Say hello to fresh hair! Just make sure you remember: while dry shampoo is amazing, it's not a miracle worker. If your hair is legit dirty, you gotta wash it. It can only do so much. However, if it's just normal every day use, dry shampoo will definitely make a difference! If you use too much or you use it too close to your hair (it should be sprayed 10-12 inches away from your hair), it will leave white residue. If you brush through it, it should disappear into your hair.
Lastly, like most dry shampoos, it adds good texture to your hair too, making styling much easier. You hair styles better dirty anyway, and adding dry shampoo definitely adds the texture to make it even easier to style! And it adds volume too!
This is my hair from this morning, I should have taken a before shot but I didn't think that far ahead lol. But, as you can see, my hair doesn't look too bad for not having washed it since Sunday night!
Overall, I definitely recommend this product, especially if you're like me and don't have the time or patience to be washing your hair every day. This can, which is 5.3 oz, retails for $11.99. You can get it online via their website, but shipping was crazy when I looked into before. But, you can purchase this brand at Ulta stores, and also Ulta online. Ulta usually does free shipping over $25 and it's more than easy to spend $25 at Ulta, at least for me! Also, Ulta does a lot of sales for them, so you can probably get it for a decent price if you keep your eye out.
Do you have a dry shampoo you can't live without? I wanna hear your favorites!
