So, I wanted to share with you guys a new body butter I've tried by a brand called Ellovi. Believe it or not, I was lucky enough to win 2 of these and 2 lip balms by entering a giveaway on Instagram! Really, I should say, my mom won it for us because it was a Mother's Day giveaway and all I had to do was say why my mom is amazing, and that's how I won. Basically, she's the best mom ever. =) Back on track, I had been eyeing up their body butters for a little while now, considering I tried their lip balm earlier this year and liked it. Plus, I really love body butters. And vanilla. Put them together and you got my attention.
Ellovi is a vegan and cruelty free company. Their big selling point that caught my attention is that they have just six ingredients in their products (as you can see above), and it's so pure you could eat it, as their website claims! However, I don't recommend it. I think less is more with ingredients in my products. They have three scents currently; original, vanilla, and their newest is mint chocolate chip. I think as they become a more known company, they'll develop more scents. They offer body butters and lip balms only at this present time. You will notice in the ingredients that water is not one of them. It may seem strange, but their products are concentrated, so they don't need water! Now that I've told you what Ellovi is all about, let's get into the deets of this Vanilla Body Butter!
First, let's discuss the packaging. The body butter comes in a lovely 3.5 oz frosted glass jar. I love that it has "ellovi body" imprinted around the sides oft the jar. Overall, the packing is very elegant and if you added a bow, you would be ready to give it as a gift.
The plastic lid twists off easily to reveal the product, as you can see below.
The first thing you notice when you open the jar is the smell. This stuff smells AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING! It smells just like buttercream icing. Ellovi only uses the purest vanilla extract in their vanilla scented items and let me tell you, it shows and really makes a big difference. Now for the actual texture of the product.
Remember, this is body butter, not lotion. So it's supposed to be thick and have a texture similar to that of butter, understandable so. They recommend keeping it in a cool place so it doesn't melt. My room was pretty cool because I had the air on, so I had to work the product a little bit to get enough to show you the texture. The texture is exactly what I want in a body butter; creamy and rich. A little definitely goes a long way. As with most body butters, you really have to rub this in your skin. If you're looking for a quick and go moisturizer this isn't it. You have to really massage it into your skin for a bit. It also takes some time to absorb in. I took a picture below of one leg with and one leg without.
First off, please excuse the hairiness of my legs. Second, it was really hard to get a picture that shows the difference. But, you can kind of see, the left leg has the product, and near my shin where my skin gets dry, you can see it's shinier and looks more supple. My right leg is just bare and you can see the same spot near my skin is drier and ashier looking. Once I applied it all over, my skin still felt soft and moisturized until the next day when I got my shower!
My only complaint about this stuff is that I wish the scent lasted longer on my skin. I got maybe two hours of it and it was gone. It made me so sad because of how good I smelled lol. Other than that, I loved every single thing about it and absolutely recommend it. It's summertime here, so I won't be using it too much as I won't need something that thick, but as it gets colder I'll for sure be using this regularly.
If you're interested in trying any of the Ellovi products, you can order them directly from their website, and the best part? FREE SHIPPING! This, as well as the other scents of body butter, retail for $26. This jar, depending on your usage, can last you from 1-6+ months. Because it lasts so long and because it's so rich you don't need a lot, the price you pay is totally fair. Hope you enjoy!
