Let's talk some truth: it doesn't matter what you eat, how you eat, or how much you eat, taking a multivitamin is essential. You need to be well rounded, and that doesn't always just happen. But with the endless amounts of vitamins out there, where do you begin? I've tried one vegan brand before, but I didn't love it. It made my belly hurt, so I decided to try the DEVA brand. I went iron free because iron vitamins always bothers my already sensitive stomach. I also got the tiny tablets. Not that I have an issue with regular size tablets, but if you've ever got a big pill stuck in your throat and it just sits there until it eventually slides down, you learn to appreciate tiny tablets.
I actually really like these vitamins. Not only are they easy to take, but after taking them for close to a month now, I feel much better so I know they're filling the gap where I'm missing certain things. Prior to taking these, I was dizzy and feeling generally ill. Within a week to two weeks of taking this, I was feeling better.
You know how vitamins turn your pee that fluorescent yellow/green color? The reason that happens is you're excreting all the extra vitamins not absorbed by your body. For the first week or so, my pee was the usual clear color, but as I took them more, it started to get to that bright yellow color. So I know they're actually working, and I was actually absorbing the vitamins I needed in my body.
They're super affordable too. I paid $7.19 for 90 tablets, and at one tablet per day, that's a 90 day supply. That only comes out to be like $.08 per pill. Granted, you can't get these in stores (not by me at least), and I had to order online, so sure you may have to pay for shipping, but they're still worth it. I got mine from The Vegan Store online, and I highly recommend them! Also, I recently discovered Vitacost (and am kind of in love), and they offer a variety of Deva vitamins for cheap too!
At the same time I ordered these vitamins, I also ordered this B-Fresh Gum. The reason I was so intrigued was the B12. That's one of the vitamins vegetarians and especially vegans can lack, and each serving of this gum (which is 2 pieces) contains 300% RDI of B12. How great is that?! I know 300% sounds like a lot, but it's a water soluble vitamin, so any extra get excreted in your waste. And it even contains calcium! Talk about multi purpose gum!
The gum has a refreshing minty flavor, but unfortunately it only lasts for like 5 minutes. I don't really mind too much since I was never like a huge gum fan, but I do wish it lasted at least a little longer. I eat veggies and hummus like every day for lunch, and that gum really helps freshen my breath before going back out to work and chatting with people. This gum claims to help balance the pH in your mouth thus eliminating your bad breath and I think it works, for myself personally. I take good care of my teeth and mouth, so my breath really isn't ever that bad anyway, but I know hummus breath isn't cute on anyone lol.
The price is a little high. I paid $10.99 for 100 pieces, which isn't horrible. If the gum lasted longer I would find the price to be more reasonable. Overall, I am happy with the purchase though. I carry them with me in my bag every day!
