This VeganCuts Winter Makeup Box is lit like a Christmas tree! I liked the mix of products in this box. With a total value of $131, this box really has maximum value for your dollar. I haven't had the chance to try anything but the blush and lipstick yet.
Let's talk about Elate Cosmetics Creme Blush first, since this is one of the products I've used.
The shade is called Love, and it is a really pretty color. The packaging is beautiful. All Elate Cosmetics have beautiful packaging. The burnt wood with the elegant designs are wonderful.
As you can see, the compact is one of those twist ones with a magnetic closure. The color is so pretty, but boy oh boy, was this a disappointment. I so didn't want it to be, I really wanted to love it. There is absolutely next to no pigment with the blush, the texture isn't a cream, it's like a balm, and I tried applying it with my finger, and you can look in the second photo, that when I applied it, it just took my foundation off and transferred it to the blush. As a blush, no bueno. I did try it on top of my balm on my lips, and that added a nice but subtle pop of color. I'm basically using it on my lips just occasionally, but I'm probably going to end up trashing it. I'm so sad to say!
Next, we'll talk about Emani Prismatic Duo Tone Lipstick in Bewitched.
Let me first state, I had no idea how cool this lipstick was. There's two shades, one on each side, and you can use one per lip, switch it up, put some just in the middle for an ombre look... I mean, it's really fun! I used it basically like a regular lipstick, but I'm going to use it differently tomorrow.
I really loved the shade I used, but I would advise using minimal lip balm on top if you do. I need my balm for everything, and it caused it to bleed a little, but not a lot. I know for next time. It's definitely not food or drink proof, but it applies really nicely and is actually pretty moisturizing on its own. I'm a fan of this, plus the packaging is really pretty! I recommend this one!
Next, Inika Long Lash Vegan Mascara.
I love trying new mascaras, so so much. I haven't tried this yet, but I feel like I'm going to love it. I'm almost done my mascara now so then I will be trying this one. I go through eyeliner and mascara like no other. They are my weakness.
Next, Mineral Fusion Stunning Eyeshadow Trio.
Since this is so small, this is in my makeup bag in my backpack that I use daily so that, if I need to fancy up a bit, I can. The colors are all neutral, which is great and compliments any eye color. You can even apply them with your fingertips! Super easy and convenient!
Lastly, Pacifica Crystal Moon Lit Oil.
Now, I know this is for your face, but I also know that lavender does not like my face, but that doesn't mean I won't use it on the rest of my skin! There's some really great ingredients in here, and I'm a fan of multi-purposeful products. Lavender, quartz, and blue tansy.. so many awesome ingredients! I'm going to try this maybe on my feet, maybe my neck and arms.
That's it! I'm looking forward to trying the rest of these products out and reviewing them for you!
Colourpop is one of my favorite affordable brands. They also released a Disney collection a few months ago, and it's also affordable. I got: two shades of their No Filter Foundation sticks since I had no clue what shade would match, if any, Colourpop x Delilah lip gloss in shade A New Day, and Disney Designer Super Shock Shadow in Almost There (from the Princess and the Frog). The Foundation sticks are $10 each, presently on sale for $7, the lip gloss is $6, and the eyeshadow is $5. When I say affordable, I really mean it.
Let's start with the foundation sticks. Here's the short version, I don't love them, but they do have some pros. I used both shades. I got Light 67N and Medium 81N. I'm so used to having to mix foundation shades that buying two is never weird to me. My skin is basically unmatchable.
Here's the plus side: they're so easy to apply. They glide on smoothly and blend easily. They're great for on the go, and they're good for like "no makeup but I don't want to look completely dead" look. Here's some photos:
One is in sunshine and the other is just natural lighting. The coverage is minimal, but the color is off, especially in the natural light. The sunshine hides it better. I added powder on top, and still wasn't impressed. I will say the formula is nice; it's non-greasy and it didn't break me out or anything. My lovely Hashi's causes hormonal imbalances which make me break out, so yay to that.
Final answer: not for me. If you have good skin and don't need full coverage, and have a normal skin shade, give them a shot. They're $10 each, on sale for $7 right now, it's not an expensive waste of money. Like I said, I do use it on occasion with some powder, the light shade, if I'm just running out. Now that I'm tan, the medium would probably would too. It's good to have more than one shade regardless. Summer and winter shades!
Next up, the Colourpop x Delilah lip gloss in A New Day.
This shade is a sheer light nude; all it really does is add some light shimmer to your natural lip shade. My lips are pink and red, depending. They change colors like other people's eyes do. You know those hazel eyes that are sometimes greener or sometimes bluer? That's me, but with my lips lol. For some reason, it has a brush instead of the little sponge, which I'm not a huge fan of. But, 20% of proceeds go to the Make A Wish Foundation until January 11, 2019. So, hurry up and place some orders before time runs out!
Lastly, Disney Designer's Super Shock Shadow in Almost There.
I feel like you can't get a good enough picture of the color, but their Super Shock Shadows pack real punch of color. This brown shade is so pretty, and I just use my finger to apply it. I either pat it or rub it depending on how I want it to look, with more or less pigment. I absolutely love their shadows, and can't recommend them enough. At $5 each, you can stock up!
I know you guys haven't heard from me in a minute. I'd like to share a bit of personal info before we get into the review. I'm in my senior year of school, I graduate 10/29/19! That's actually 6 months earlier than I thought, and my classes are incredibly hefty with the work load. Plus, I have my full time job, cats to take care, an apartment to keep clean, and some attempt at a social life and me time, if possible. There have been other drastic changes in my life that have triggered my anxiety and depression. So, as much as I have the best intentions to blog, it seems to fall to the wayside. Sad to say, because it's one of the things I truly enjoy! But, I have a 4 day weekend with no school, and while it's almost over, I wanted to get some blogging done. I did take some self-care time as well, which I am well-overdue for.
Also, happy holidays! I don't celebrate them really, so I'm home in my PJs relaxing and watching some Christmas movies. Presently I'm watching a current favorite- Christmas Vacation!
Now that we're all caught up, let's review!
I actually received this Velvetines Matte lipstick in shade Salem for free with my eyebrow product order. There's a saying I like, and that's "be as bold as your lipstick," and this shade doesn't disappoint!
This shade is described as a "true brown" and I would call that accurate. There is a very subtle shade of red mixed in. Like a rust color, if you will, but not nearly as unattractive as that sounds. As you can see, the color is flattering. It also matched my outfit perfectly that day. It is matte, which I don't like, but most of my lipsticks are. I usually use a lip balm on top, or a gloss, to add some moisture and some shine. All matte lipsticks are drying, I don't care what they put in them to say keeps your lips soft, it's just not true. Lip balm or gloss does help, but then the long-wear of the matte wear off and it gets on everything. It's a little bit of give and take. I'm really obsessed with the color though. And for the price of free, it's currently $5 on their website now, you really can't beat it!
