I was really hesitant about using a liquid blush. But, I’ve had such success with Illuminare Cosmetics, and they were having a 20% off + free shipping sale, I felt like it was the right time to try it!
What I find so cool about it is that they have shades that coincide with the foundation shade you wear. I wear Portofino Porcelain primarily, so you buy the same shade in blush to complement that skin tone. It takes the guess work out of picking out blushes, which has always been a challenge for me. So, I really loved that.
Sadly, the pad I bought is ripped. They’re sending me a replacement one, but at least this is usuable in the meantime. I’m only using the top to apply my blush. Which, speaking of, I had literally no clue how to apply this, or how much, or anything. I just winged it. I figured, I use the pad for my foundation, might as well try it with the blush. And it actually works really well. It looks like it takes off some of my aplready applied makeup, but my makeup still looks good afterwards. So, I think it’s just them mixing together. It doesn’t seem to have any affect on the blush application though, so I don’t mind it.
This is a matte moisturizing formula, which I love because I add highlighter after the fact, and I don’t want to be super shiny. I like to decide my own shine level, ya know?
You honestly only need a dot to apply a natural looking color to your cheeks. You can add more for a bold look, but I prefer to have a natural look, and this blush absolutely provides that.
I wanted you to see it in both natural and artificial light, because there is a difference. I probably could’ve applied more too, but I was running out of time. This is pre-highlighter too, obviously.
This blush lasts literally all day and all night. You don’t get a lot for $18, but you get plenty for your money’s worth. This tube will last me forever. Totally worth the purchase you guys! Check it out!
Happy Blushing! 😊
Here's a small list of the many things I love, in no particular order: Disney, vintage, and makeup. Besame Cosmetics has combined all of those loves into one beautiful Show White collection. I ordered the storybook eyeshadow palette before, which I've yet review (it's on the list), but I want to review the two other items I ordered.
First, let's talk about the storybook-inspired makeup bag.
I don't even like blue, but I love the color patterns and design on this bag. I love the style of it; the fact that it looks like a book is super cute. It's got a 3D design even though it's flat. It's not very big, so you can't store a ton of makeup in there, but you can put some essentials in there while you're out and about, and with the zip closure you can ensure your products won't fall out! It's even got a little internal pocket, maybe for highlighter papers or oil blotting papers. It's the cutest! They had a different color way, but this one really caught my eye. I love it. This was $15.
Next up, the Snow White translucent finishing powder.
The first thing I want to mention is the fact that they didn't include my matching puff! I'm bummed out, but I did send an email, so hopefully they send me one. I know it's a small thing to miss, but it really completes it!
Aside from that, I couldn't be more obsessed with the compact itself. The design, color pattern, the beautiful animals on the compact mirror... everything is SO perfect. The powder is fine, and it does a great job setting your makeup. Even when I'm done with this, I'm absolutely keeping the compact. It's entirely too pretty not to! This was $35.
Right now, they're offering free shipping on all orders over $30, which is a steal. Do you know anyone that loves Disney and makeup? You might want to check them out. Remember: everything except their lipsticks and their mascaras are vegan, according to their website.
12/2/17- I wanted to update you on the Case of the Missing Puff. Besame Cosmetic's customer service is SO GOOD that not only did they respond promptly to my request, they sent me a brand new powder, absolutely free, told to go ahead and keep the original one I got, and this time they promised I would have my puff included. So, I received my order in a few days, again, wasn't charged a penny, and now I have two wonderful Snow White compacts, for the price of one, and I got my pretty puff. They will guarantee be a company I repurchase from again. If I've said it once, I've said it 1000 times, customer service is what keeps me coming back to companies. They get two big thumbs way way up from me!
It's a sad day for me, knowing that today is officially the last day The Tree Kisser store will be open. I've been wearing her products for awhile now, so I'm sad there won't be any new designs or styles coming out! Jessica, who started and ran the company, is really a fantastic person. She's a vegan, and she's passionate about helping animals. She's already lost 200+ followers due to her store closing, which is a shame. However, her new ventures that se mentioned will be involving activism, blogging, and a few other surprises she has in store, so if those activities don't fit the follower, she doesn't need those kind of followers, in my opinion anyway.
She will always have a loyal follower in me, and I look forward to wearing my Tree Kisser march and reading her blog, while sipping on some chamomile tea. I thought after my last purchase, I wouldn't be able to get anything else. But, she found a box of shirts, with a design I didn't have, that I'm going to show today, and then she had a vintage box that I was able to grab two items from as well! They'll be coming soon, so for now let's talk about my cute shirt!
PS: How cute are my leggings? I live my life for Lularoe leggings. These black and white ones match, um, everything I own.
I really love this saying. We all hope to be remembered for something positive. I like to think I'll be remembered for saving the planet and making people smile, wearing beautiful shoes, probably not lol. Although, my sneakers are pretty awesome!
This is a unisex size t-shirt, and I got an XS, but I should've gotten a S. I just prefer a bigger shirt, this is more form fitting. I didn't put it in the dryer, and I don't plan to, just in case it shrinks. But, like all Tree Kisser shirts, the material is super soft and the design is on point. I like that her messages have never been too "in your face," but they get the point across.
Even though her virtual online store is closing, I'm glad I've got pretty much all her designs so they can live on forever, through me and her other fans, that will continue to wear them proudly!
What a lot of people might not know about Paul Mitchell is that most of their products are vegan, and they've been cruelty free since the 80s. In fact, they were one of the first companies to do so, and have always stood by their cruelty free stance. Paul Mitchell products are basically the only products I use for my hair. Their Awapuhi Shampoo and The Detangler Conditioner are my jams. But, on the days I want to do a little curl, which is rare because my hair doesn't like curls. I have one secret weapon that makes my waves/curls last more than five minutes, and that's this:
Their cruelty free statement is on their bottles, but their vegan products aren't labeled. All you have to do is some general research to see if the product you're eyeing up is vegan friendly. When you go to the Paul Mitchell website, look up the product, and you'll be able to tell, under the Features section. Check it out:
This hair spray doesn't make your hair that gross crunchy feeling, but it does stiffen it a bit just so that it holds your hair into place. It smells really good too, not that artificial smell that you're used to getting with hair sprays. I don't use it often, but I'm always impressed when I do. Here's some photos:
Next time you're looking for a hair spray, don't bypass this one. You can get it at Ulta, and I'm pretty sure at Target too. I got the small size since I barely use it, but they offer a larger size for those who need more!
I recently had to RIP my favorite powder foundation brush. And, when I went to Ultra to repurchase it, it was gone. Finding a new powder foundation brush gives me anxiety (what doesn't though really?!). Finding a brush that limits fall out of the product, with soft cruelty free bristles, that applies it nicely and doesn't cake it on? That's a lot, and it's overwhelming. So, I stood at Ulta for like, ever, looking at brush after brush after brush and settled on the Instapop Face Brush by Real Techniques.
This brush has an extreme taper that allows for full-coverage powder application. It says that it's best for loose powders, but I've found that it works great for my pressed powder too. The tapered head really does allow for a full coverage application. I notice barely any fall out with my makeup, which I love. Less mess and less money lost! The head is thick and full of bristles. What's cool about this company as well, is that they color code their aluminum handles, so you know which brush is for what type of application.
Let me tell you the best part though, ALL OF THE REAL TECHNIQUES PRODUCTS ARE ON SALE! When I bought it, it was $10.99, and now it's on sale for $6.59! They have the oval brushes I really want to try too. My blush brush is going and they have a nice one on sale. With these prices, I could buy a few for blush, bronzer, highlighter, finishing powder... all the things!
Again, Christmas is coming, and these would make great gifts! They even have like mini ornaments, all packaged for gift giving, of some of their best selling face brushes and sponges. You really can't beat the prices right now, and now is the time to shop for those makeup loving ladies in your life! And, with prices like these, you can afford to stuff your stocking with them too!
I bought this a few months back, but I finally am getting around to reviewing it. I literally have so many reviews to do it's "bananas" (see what I did there ?! lol). With Thanksgiving coming up this week, and me having a hefty school week, I'm trying to get a few done tonight. Because tomorrow is all homework and football, Monday and Tuesday work, Wednesday and Thursday is all Thanksgiving prep then Thanksgiving at Casa De Ronan, Friday and Saturday work, Sunday football and homework. A day in the life right?
So let's get to it!
They have several different flavors, but something about this one caught my eye. Maybe because I love tropical flavors so much, and I love bananas. True story, this flavor is so spot on. It reminds you of eating a banana on a tropical island somewhere. I do wish they had a basic vanilla one, since I'm such a vanilla junkie, but it's good to branch out and try something new. I'm not good at that, so a different lip balm is about as far as I go lol.
I love these types of tubes for lip balm, even though I prefer the oval ones because they're easier to store in your pocket. The color of the tube, and the pretty floral designs is exactly what you would think of when it comes to Pacifica.
I think this is a nice lip balm; however, I don't think it's great for the winter. It's not very thick, and I can see having issues when it gets really cold with this not really protecting my lips and keeping them from getting raw. Unfortunately with my skin, I really need thick and goopy to keep it protected. This is a good lip balm though, and I would definitely use it during the summer time. It's my bag lip balm, so I'm still going to presently use it. I've got my Hempz lip balm and EOS Crystal lip balms at work, and I have my Sooth Touch Unscented lip balm for home. Plus, 4 back ups, because you know, lip balm junkie and such.
I think this is a good balm overall, and I'm glad I bought it. They even make a lip scrub too that's Sugared Candied Lemon and Sugar. The other flavors are: Indian Chai, Bali Coconut (which was my original choice, but remember, I went out of my comfort zone!), Persian Cherry (another option I was eyeing up, I imagined it smelled like classic Cherry Chapstick from my childhood, so I thought it would invoke a sense of nostalgia), Cuban Mango, and Summer Kale. All of which are presently on sale at Ulta, originally $4.99 on sale for $3.49 and with Christmas coming up, these make great stocking stuffers!
I've had this palette for awhile now and I'm excited to review it finally. I wanted to really use it before I reviewed it fully. I think I mentioned it briefly in my Halloween makeup post, but I just wanted to really post it a full review since I've been using it basically every day.
This palette is so perfect. It's got neutral colors and it's got bright colors. I tend to err on the side of boring and bland lol. My go to colors are: Ashes, Chalice, Revelation, Sanctuary, Crucifix, Cathedral, Heaven, Sabbath, and Worship. I will say, I'm surprised there wasn't a matte gray. I'm so surprised by that. I would've expected a at the very least a dark or light matte gray. Don't get me wrong, it's the most beautiful palette like in the world, but I wish there was a matte gray.
Not only are the colors super versatile, and they match pretty much everything. Like I said, I like a nude eye, usually accentuating my dark brown eyes with nudes, browns, and purples. This was Sanctuary, Crucifix, and Ashes all blended.
This was me and Amber getting our goth on at the H.I.M. concert the other night. I'm wearing Sabbath, Cathedral, and highlighted with Amen. I'm also wearing my KVD Studded Lipstick in Slayer, pure black, with a little bit of KVD Liquid Lipstick in two shades of gray. Oh, and KVD Liquid Liner in Trooper. KVD all the things lol.
As a side note: I just really can't tell you ladies how overwhelming it is to see my face now compared to before. Had I know my thyroid was the problem was the root of my acne, I would've gotten it checked so long ago. Plus, I found the perfect makeup, and I'm not embarrassed to show my face anymore. Sometimes it makes me emotional. I digress.
Basically, this palette is amazing. The colors are beautiful, it's very versatile, the shadows go on smooth and you can make them lighter or darker depending on how you want your eyeshadows to look. I'm dark and brooding at heart, so this palette it literally right up my alley. I forget how much I paid for it, like $50-$60 I think. But seriously, worth every penny! Treat yourself to this as a Christmas present. You deserve it!
Pumpkin Spice is my JAM! There’s nothing pumpkin related that I don’t like, and when you add some spice in there, it’s basically the perfect flavor. Not just for fall, but forever. So, when I saw NCLA had their Pumpkin Spice Cuticle Oil on sale for $8, originally $18, PLUS FREE SHIPPING, it was literally a no brainer. I had to have it!
PSA: Each week, they’ll be having a new special item on sale, and it’s free shipping until Christmas so, make sure your sign up for their emails so you don’t miss out!
I rarely use cuticle oil but honestly, with the weather getting colder, we could all use it! Of course when I apply lotion to my hands 55x a day, I rub it into my cuticles and nails as well, but you need more than that when the tempature drops. I especially do because of my eczema, which, after only having 2 days of winter like temperatures, my hands are already starting to feel it.
This oil in particular is packed with Vitamin E and Sunflower Seed Oil to moisturize your cuticles, and it definitely does so. You’re supposed to use it twice a day, which I’ve been pretty consistent with, and I could tell a difference after the first use, let alone after several applications. I haven’t tried to remove them yet, which is basically the whole point of cuticle oil; soften them up so you can remove them, but I imagine they would be easier to remove if I so choose to do so. Mine aren’t really like big and in the way so I don’t mind so much. But if they get dry, I will pick them, one of my lovely OCD traits that I do, and then I’ll tear my skin and I’ll bleed, so that’s a cycle I’m trying to stop.
I will say this, it doesn’t particularly smell like pumpkin spice. I smell waffles and maple syrup. Do I mind that? No I don’t. Who doesn’t love waffles and maple syrup? But I think they needed more spice scent to really fulfill that pumpkin spice they’re calling it. Cinnamin oil might’ve been a good addition simply because A) it would’ve added more spice and B) I’m pretty sure it’s got anti-inflammatory properties as well as antibacterial properties as well, two bonuses. Cutting your cuticles really a isn’t great idea, especially if you go really short, because you can get an infection, since they’re a defense against germs getting into your body. Any open wound on your hand is no good, so I feel like the cinnamon oil would’ve been a great benefit to add. But, that’s just a suggestion! If it still a gem of a product overall and I’d pay $8 again for it in a heartbeat.
I only wish it came in like a body size because I’d use it all over me. It smells so good and the scent last pretty long too, so I’m just constantly smelling my hands lol. I recommend it 100%, I think you’re gonna love it!
My husband and I celebrated our second anniversary on October 30th. Unfortunately, Greyhound was closed Monday, Tuesday was Halloween, Wednesday we were busy, so finally on Thursday, we had a proper anniversary dinner.
Greyhound is one of my favorite places to eat. The owner, Joseph, always remembers us, and chats with us for a bit. He's so down to earth, and just a really nice guy. Kevin recently watched What The Health, and has finally decided, that slowly but surely and to the best of his ability, he's going to try to cut meat out of his diet. For that, I couldn't be more happy and more proud. Kevin could eat chicken for breakfast, brush, lunch, linner, dinner, and snacks in between. So, this is a really big step for him, and I'm just so excited for this journey for him. As I've mentioned before, I don't eat faux meat. In my opinion, they're disgusting and they remind me too much of the real thing and I can't eat it. But, I think faux meat options are fantastic for a lot of people. especially those transitioning from being an omnivore to a herbivore. And basically, Kevin is a carnivore. Fruits and veggies, and anything generally healthy for you, he's not a fan of. If he was a dinosaur, he'd be a t-rex. Seriously.
As we we're having this discussion with Joe, he asks our waitress to go and ask the chef to fry up some seitan, in some marinara sauce, with some fresh vegan mozzarella cheese, and bring it out for Kevin to try. Since Kevin mentioned he didn't like spicy foods, Joe took it upon himself to give him this sample plate to try, and it was a generous sample. I just thought that was such an amazing thing to do. He didn't have to do that, but he wanted to show Kevin what he could be eating, and that by not eating meat he's not going to be missing out. And you know what? Kevin though it was delicious! So delicious that he got Vegan Chicken Parm for dinner, and asked for that exact same seitan, instead of the strips, and loved it. He saved some for lunch today, and was so excited to eat it!
We had our usual guacamole for our appetizer, which is both of our favorite. The irony of it all is that, I, of course, live my life for avocados, but Kevin hates avocados, yet absolutely loves theirs. We fight over who gets the last scoop lol. I got my usual Eggplant Parm, since I'm a creature of habit. I did try a small bite of his seitan "chicken" and I just couldn't. At least I tried lol.
The homemade pesto on top really added depth to the flavor, and I just realized that looking at my photo, my eggplant looks like steak strips lol.
It was really cute because there was a young girl there, early 20s probably, clearly bringing her non-vegan parents there, and it was really heart warming watching them try something that's clearly out of their comfort zone for their daughter. We didn't get to stay until they finished their meal, but from what I heard, the parents were pleasantly surprised.
And it's those kind of reactions that really make my heart happy. Seeing people stepping out of their comfort zone, trying things the have zero intentions of liking, and ending up loving it, that's what it's all about.
Give peas a chance, my friends!
A while back, I posted my mini Lush Halloween haul. I only got a few things this year, and this Black Rose Lip Tint was one of them. I used it, and I wanted to review it for you guys!
First of all, the color does look really dark when you open it, which might be intimidating to some, but it's actually not nearly as dark as it looks. Honestly, it leaves a really pretty fuchsia color on your lips.
Instead of calling it a lip tint, they should really call it a lip stain, and also a finger stain, and a bag stain, and a whatever it touches stain. I didn't know this at the time of applying it, but as with most lip balm, due to the shape, it doesn't apply precisely. So, I had kind of made a mess of my lips, and I used my fingers to try and fix it, but it was stuck on there as quickly as I applied it. Then, it was stuck on my fingers, then I must've touched my bag, and it's still now stuck on there. I tried removing it, but I can't get it off my bag, which I'm totally bummed about, since it's my adorable Beast bag, and his fur, eye, and nose have stains on them now!
Also, my lips we're dry, and I had forgotten my lip balm, and panicked of course, which is why I used this, hoping it would moisturize my lips, and based off the ingredients, I figured it would.
But, this formula is actually pretty drying. It highlighted the lines in my lips, because they we're already dried out. Lip balm is life guys, you know this. It's just life. So, I was pretty disappointed in how much drier and unhealthier it made my lips look. Had I had my lip balm on already, then applied it, I think it would've been a different story.
I really need to talk about the staying power. Like, it's ridiculous. I applied it mid day, wore it the rest of the day, and it stayed on through lip balm applications (although, you guessed it, it stained my lip balm too), and accidentally fell asleep with my makeup on (we've all done it ladies, don't judge me!), and when I woke up, it looked the exact same as when I applied it. It didn't smear on my face and didn't smear on my pillow case. I was blown away. It took make up remover to get it off. So, it stays. You can bet that.
I didn't realize when I bought it that it was $10, and had I known, I probably wouldn't have bought it. I wouldn't pay $10 for lip balm, tinted or not. Now that I know it's basically like a long wear lipstick, I don't feel so bad about the price tag. It's still online, but it's your last chance, so if you're interested, I would snatch it up soon! You could probably call your local Lush and see if they have them in stock too, you never know!
Pucker up buttercup!
