I'm a tad bit late on this review, simply because this is from the Spring Makeup Box from Vegan Cuts, but, better late than never. I finally finished my other bronzer and was able to open this one up, and give it a try!
I'm typically not a fan of loose powders, I prefer pressed, but I really like this. It's matte, and it's buildable. I use the same Teddy Bear Hair Bronzer Brush from my Too Faced bronzer to apply it, and it works great. Actually, I need more bronzer than I thought I would to achieve the bronzer level I want.
This is just a few shakes of powder applied, and you can see the color difference. It also wasn't blended very well, so don't judge me lol. But, honestly I'm totally digging this bronzer. I'm glad it's not shimmery or anything like that. Despite the fact that the color seems really dark, it's genuinely not that dark and I feel like it would be flattering on a lot of different skin tones.
Even if you're concerned about the color, they actually offer 3 different shades, so suite your skin tone. This shade is eco exotic. This is valued at $29, although it's $36AUD since it's an Australian company. I definitely recommend checking them out, or even looking at the Vegan Cuts website to see if they're selling it, which often times they sell their products as well. Check them out!
Tonight is my last night before I start school again. This term is Research Methods 1 and Professional Presence. So, I'll be pretty quiet for 10 weeks, minimum, and therefore, I'm trying to get as many blog posts in as I can.
This is from the Summer Makeup Box from Vegan Cuts. Honeybee Gardens is actually pretty local to me, in PA. I've wanted to try their products for a while, so I'm glad I finally did. I love supporting local companies.
I think the eyeliner is smooth, and applies easily. It stayed really surpassingly well on my upper lid, when I tried it instead of my KVD Tattoo Liner. But, it doesn't last very long on your water line. I usually apply it twice before I even walk out the door for work in the morning. It's not an awful eyeliner by any means, but it's average for eyeliners like this. Nothing crazy to write home about personally, but with that being said, I'm still happy I got it in my box. This retails for $8.99, and for that price, I'm all in. You can't beat that price!
I'm down to the wire with this month's favorite things edition, but I've got some goodies in store for you! Let's begin, shall we?
First up, my rose gold sequined Minnie Mouse backpack by Loungefly.
Have I mentioned once or twice that I’m going to Disney 8/12/18 – 8/18/18, cause I am! I know rose gold is so basic and millennial, and you know what, I don’t care! I love it! I even have matching rose gold Minnie ears my aunt bought me from Disney one of the times they went. This backpack is shiny and pretty. It’s got beautiful rose gold details throughout, like the zippers and the zipper pulls. It’s also not terribly big, but not too small. It’s perfect for carrying your essentials through the park. I woke up at 3am to order this on Disney’s website for $85 with absolutely no regrets at all. I’m going shine bright like a rose gold diamond while I’m in Disney.
Since we’re on a Disney theme.. next up is my newest pair of TOMS.
I told you that every monthly edition will include a pair of Disney TOMS lol. My Goddaughter calls me her Fairy Godmother, so when I saw these I was like, come on. Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather look just adorable in this pair, and my Goddaughter is going to love them when she sees them. Anytime I see anything Fairy Godmother related, I always have to get it since I am a Fairy Godmother, after all! This was this month’s release, and they too cute to resist. A little birdie told me next month’s release is Snow White!
Next up.. my new Matt & Nat backpack and keychain!
I took multiple photos of these because they’re just beautiful and fancy and I feel like the fanciest vegan on the block. These were actually early birthday presents from my husband because patience is a virtue neither of us have, he gave it to me now, instead of on September 3rd. I wanted black in the backpack, but they were sold out, also sold out of grey, and I decided on red, because it’s a power color and I’m a powerful woman #girlpower ! Matt & Nat is a luxury vegan company, selling a variety of vegan goods that you would never know aren’t vegan. I like to carry a big bag for work, and I love backpacks. So, Kevin ordered me this, on sale for $108.75 (knowing I’d never spend the money on it), and the keychain I wanted in black, on sale for $18.75 (also wouldn’t pay that for a keychain), and I feel so fancy! I’m using the keychain for my keys, and my backpack for work. But it’s so spacious, I could use it for traveling, I could use it strictly for my laptop and school stuff.. the possibilities are endless. The quality is fantastic too, as you would both hope and expect for what you pay for their products. I’m in the process of starting to sell some of my other bags, because they’re never ending, and have just a few on hand for whatever reasons. Totally worth it!
Next up, magnetic bookmarks from Crafty Babas!
If you follow my personal page, or know me in general, you know I love horror movies. I also love to read, though I seldom get the chance to do it. I do have a ton of books that I plan on reading, probably after I graduate, since I won’t have the time before then. I have several bookmarks from Crafty Babas, a UK based company, and I had to add Michael Myers from Halloween (my favorite movie ever) and David from The Lost Boys (one of my favorite movies.) David was a new addition to her characters, and since I didn’t have Michael, I figured I’d add him to the list too! I think I paid between $7-$8 with shipping for these from the UK, which isn’t bad at all. They’re available from her store on Etsy!
Next up, reusable Mickey tin bottle from Target!
This is actually my second bottle from Target that's like this, except this one was on clearance for 50% off! I'm amazed at how cold this keeps already cold beverages and for how long they stay cold. It doesn't fit a full 16 oz. water bottle in it, but it does fit about 3/4 of it in there, so I would say it's 12 oz. in size. I love the vintage Mickey style, and I love the simplistic colors. I love even more that it was $3.98; you can't beat that price! Target actually had all of this Mickey stuff on clearance (you may see some items in my August favorite things edition, who knows?!), and I recommend you hop to it before you miss out. I think most Targets have taken down their Mickey section, but the clearance items should still be scattered around the store, if you search for it.
Lastly, Ariel flannel by Cakeworthy!
You thought we were done with Disney, didn’t you? GOTCHA! We’re never done with Disney. This flannel, originally $50, was half off and fully amazing. Ariel is my favorite, and the embroidered Ariel signature and Flounder really just set it apart from the rest. It’s not incredibly soft, but I plan on wearing it with a long sleeve in the cooler months anyway. Basically, it’s the cutest! And yes, that is a Beast pin (for my pin board) that I bought as well, and should be included because it's the scene when they're feeding the birds and it's so cute.
Cleary, this month's theme is pretty Disney heavy, considering I'm about to be there! And let's be honest, August will probably be pretty Disney heavy too, since I'll be coming back from there. But, you never know!
That’s it for this month’s edition. Stay tuned, August is just around the river bend (told you, never done with Disney! Pocahontas reference FTW!)
In another lifetime, I was also a mermaid. I have had a lot of past lives. You may remember I had posted about my mermaid eyelash curler I bought from Tarte a few months ago. When I saw this vegan brush set, I needed it in my life. It had to be mine. The picture above is the ADORABLE tissue paper that came with it, that I absolutely had to keep.
This set contains 5 brushes. They are:
1) Large powder brush- perfect for loose powders that you dust all over your face. I use mine for my finishing powder.
2) Cheek brush- perfect for blush, which I use for mine (heads up, it's harder to use with pressed blush versus loose blush; I know this from personal experience).
3) Highlighter stippling brush- best used with cream highlighter, but I use mine with my pressed KVD Goldskool Highlighter and I think it works well with that too.
4) Domed eyeshadow brush- perfect for sweeping colors over the entire lid and into the crease.
5) Pencil brush- for smoking out eyeliner or eyeshadow, it also works for good for the corners for the smaller areas of your eyes and packing that color in.
You ready for some pictures? #mermaidvibes
THE BEAUTY! Do these brushes work better than other brushes? No, not really. They're not bad. I like them. But they're certainly prettier than my other brushes lol. I bought them at full price, but they're on sale for $29, so get those fins flipping and place your order before they swim away!
If you read my last Ghoulish Delights post, you know that Michael Meyer Lemon Cake is my JAM. So, when Amanda did another restock, and I saw the description of Breakfast With Witches, I was like MINE!
Let me paint this delicious picture for you: Hot Beignets, pancakes, syrup, and whipped cream. You find me one person that doesn't love the smell of breakfast food, and I'll find you a liar liar pants on fire. I can literally taste this scent, just like with MMLC. It makes me hungry every time I wear it. I had a client at work tell me I smelled good enough to eat lol.
If you're an AHS fan, you'll notice the font. Coven was a fantastic season, and I'm fairly positive in one of my past lives I was a witch. Clearly, Amanda was too because I don't know the witchcraft she uses to create such amazing scents that have such staying power. I can't wait for her next restock. Do I need more? No. Will I buy more? Yes. I love gourmand scents, and she makes them so well. But even if gourmand is not your thing, she literally makes ALL different kind of scents. Earthy, woodsy, fruity, dark, sensual, bright, floral.. go to her website. Check out her Master Scents. I promise you, you won't be disappointed. Follow her on all the social medias, join the Ghoulish Army, and tell all your friends!
Friends, it's almost that time.. my 30th birthday. As I spend the next less than 1.5 months mourning my 20s and contemplating every decision I've made up until this point in my life.. plus going to school and having anxiety.. I've had many sleepless and/or tear-filled nights. My eyes puff up really easy, considering allergies and everything else. And nothing says 30 like eye cream. So, when I was shopping Prime Day, this eye cream, originally $26, was on sale for $16. I couldn't say no to that, plus free shipping since I have Prime anyway.
100% Pure makes a few different eye creams, all focusing on different issues. Ironically, they just posted a blog about their eye creams and which to purchase, depending on what your concern is. Here's the link:
To be fair, I don't really get bags under my eyes, but I can tell you, after using this for about a week, I'm pretty impressed with it. It's hard to see the ingredients based off my photo, so here they are, copied from the 100% Pure website:
" Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe) Leaf Juice*, Rosa Centifolia Flower Water (Rose Hydrosol), Rosa Canina Seed Extract (Rosehip Oil), Coffea Arabica (Green Coffee) Seed Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Sodium Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Extracts of Coffea Arabica (Coffee Cherry) Seed, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf, Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf, Hydrastis Canadensis (Goldenseal), Vanilla Planifolia (Vanilla Absolute) Fruit, Euphorbia Cerifera Cera (Candelilla Wax) * Certified Organic "
When you read the ingredients, you'll notice something.. they're 100% pure! Fancy that huh? They really do a great job with their ingredients because everything is natural. I'm really impressed by the moisturizing properties of this, without feeling heavy, or interfering with my makeup. I get eczema on my eyes, and I've had a small patch on the left eye, bottom left corner near my nose, from my tear duct down. NOTHING cleared it up, until I started using this.
I hardly even need concealer under my eyes because they already look brighter. I haven't woken up with puffy eyes once, and I slept about 4 hours (maybe) last night, and it's been that way most of the week (it is Shark Week, after all).
The scent is fantastic; it smells like vanilla with a small tiny hint of coffee. Even if you don't like coffee, you won't mind this smell, because when I say hint I mean hint. It smells naturally sweet, not artificially sweet. It hasn't caused me any irritation in my eyes or around my eyes. Truthfully, I'm seriously impressed. This is only after a little over a week! Honestly, I'm really impressed with this stuff, especially for the $16 I paid for it. I'm really excited for it.
I've seen people say that they've developed milia as a result. Personally, I believe that's from using too much product and not allowing it to absorb all the way. You really only need a pinhead amount per eye, which, double benefit, it'll last forever! Money well spent. Thanks 100% Pure, and thanks Amazon Prime Day!
I saw this on sale for $5 I think on Ulta's website when I was placing my order about a month or so ago. You have to spend a certain amount to get free shipping, I will always spend that amount. I hate spending money on shipping, and I will always find something else to buy lol.
I usually just use a tissue to wipe my eyeshadow brushes between colors, but I thought this was pretty cool. So, I decided to give it a shot.
It does a pretty good job at removing the eyeshadow color I used before using the next one. If you look at the photos above. The top right is the sponge unused, the bottom left is me about to use it, and the bottom right is after. You can clearly see the pigment on the black sponge, and the color has been removed well enough from the brush to use a different color.
I went bold and used it with black eyeshadow before switching to a lighter color, and I was impressed by how well it removed the color. Granted, the brushes are stained (these are my Tarte Mermaid Brushes that I haven't reviewed yet but need to), but the bulk of the powder is removed.
Honestly, I can't see using this with any other brush aside from eye makeup brushes. It's a decent size, but I wouldn't use a blush then foundation on the same brush. Clean up seems easy too; once one side is used, flip it over, then, when both sides are used.. simply wash it out. It's really easy to use, easy to clean, and it's portable and convenient.
Overall, I recommend it. It definitely wasn't a bad buy for $5!
The beauty of Prime Day is that it inspired other companies to have their own big sales on their website. Tarte was one of them. They had a selection of items that were $10. This one sounded saucy, and I liked the shade. Bare is a cinnamon shade; so it's a reddish brown. Basically, think of what cinnamon looks like. It doesn't sound like a really pretty shade, but I was surprised by how much it flattered my skin tone!
I was so surprised by how smoothly this applied. For some reason, I anticipated it was going to be rough to apply, but it's so smooth! It's easy to line your lips, and easy to fill them in. I applied mine over lip balm, as per usual. The formula is really silky. I love that there's no need to sharpen it, you just twist the bottom.
The most impressive thing is that, despite eating, drinking, and talking... this stuff really does last. I reapplied it once, after lunch, even though I didn't really need to, and after I ate dinner, I had to basically scrub it off my lips. It's a matte formula, but it didn't feel excessively dry. I would say that's thanks to the mango seed, cupuacu and murmur butters. Plus, Vitamin E, which is always great for your skin. I threw a little lip balm on top, once or twice throughout the day, which is about 1000% less than I use lip balm regularly. There is some transfer, but even with the transfer, the color almost stains your lips.
All the shades in this collection are buildable, depending on what your preference is. Additionally, all the shades are deep-toned nudes. Some are lighter than others, and I would say that overall, the shades compared to the website are accurate compared to real life. Granted, I can only speak to one of them, since I only bought Bare. I'm hoping for another sale, because honestly, I wanna get a few more of these. I love the color collection. I prefer darker colors, and these aren't your typical nudes, which I think is why I like them so much.
Typically they're $24 each, which isn't cheap. But I personally find that they're worth it. This is my go-to shade. I have it in my pocketbook and wear it almost daily. Make sure you're signed up for their emails, so you don't miss a sale! If you can get these for $10, don't hesitate! I don't think you'll be disappointed!
As a fellow manager of a tanning salon for many years many moons ago, tanning was life for me. I used to tan all the time. I loved it. While I know it's bad for me, I still tanned for a while on and off for a lot of years. But, I'm trying to take the healthier route and use sunless tanner. Finding a vegan and cruelty free self tanner, that doesn't streak, leave you orange, and actually tans your skin... I had a task set out before me.
My mom has a weird obsession with QVC. She watches it for hours lol. She came across MineTan and bought the original one and wouldn't stop ranting and raving about it. She likes finding new cruelty free and vegan things to tell me about, and she is trying to buy more cruelty free and vegan items, which I'm proud of her for. My mom has always been my biggest supporter in all journeys of my life, so whenever she tells me about a product, I always look into it.
One night while she was over and talking about QVC, she brought up the MineTan again, so I hoped on eBates, (because I always get cash back however I can!), headed to Ulta's website, and looked up the different kinds of MineTan. After doing some research, I chose Endurance Ready, which is Online Only for Ulta, but most of the other formulas they have in store.
I chose this formula because it has caffeine and guarana to stimulate blood flow and help firm your skin. Ironically, it's meant for those who live an active lifestyle and are built actively built, I don't live that life. But, I like the firming ingredients, and it slims and tones your body (apparently), and it lasts 7-10+ days.
Here's the ingredients:
Honestly, I have pros and the most small con. There's no smell, especially that awful sunless tanner smell. There's actually no smell at all. There's a mitt you purchase to apply it, and my only small con I mentioned above, is that the mitt should have something inside to grip it because when applying it, it's easy for the mitt to slide off. That's pretty much my only complaint. Other than that, the formula is fantastic. It's a foam, it applies evenly and dries quickly, and it doesn't really leave that sunless tanner feel. There is a small bit of texture that gets left behind, but honestly it's minimal.
It's best to apply to freshly cleaned skin, so I got out of the shower, and applied it. It's surprisingly easy to apply too. One coat usually does enough, and you can see it right away, and it just keeps developing. What I prefer to do is apply it at nighttime when I get out of the shower, just on bare skin, no lotion or anything. I wait about 10-15 minutes before getting dressed. Then I throw on some PJs, and it doesn't leave any streaks, orange color, funky smells... nothing! As the time goes on, it gets darker and darker. I prefer to leave it on overnight, and shower regularly the next morning. You can leave it on for 1-3 hours, and then get a quick shower, with no soap or anything, just rinse off. Either way, your tan will develop over the next day. I have used it twice so far, and even as it fades, which is minimal, the fade doesn't look "dirty" or patchy, like it does with most sunless tanners I've used.
This is the only sunless tanner I will use, although I will try different formulas, but MineTine is definitely my tan. It's awesome! You can get it on their website or on Ulta's website for $34.95 and the mitt is $7.95, the foam really does go a long way so the money you spend is 100% worth it. Don't forget to use your eBates and get the cash back if you order through Ulta's website. I recommend this stuff whole heartedly, and I think you'll love it too! Check it out!
Truth be told, Au Naturale Cosmetics isn't my favorite. Their foundation was awful for my skin - it exaggerated my pores and the coverage wasn't great. So, I never really tried much else. I have tried some eyeshadows and such that were in other makeup boxes, but I never went out of my way to buy anything. So, when I saw this lip stain in my VeganCuts Summer Beauty Box, I was like, eh. I chose the color when I filled out the Beauty Profile Questions before they curated the boxes, and even still, I wasn't sure about the color. This shade is called Marsala, which is a deep mauve. I decided to try it on a Sunday, which is my minimal makeup day, and try some products out. As it turns out, I basically LOVE this shade.
It's a really beautiful color, like an un-nude nude. I was surprised by how much I liked the color on me. I love mauve as a color, and prefer darker lip stick naturally, but wow, it's so much prettier than I thought.
The overall wear isn't bad. I think I need to apply it to bare lips, without balm, but I always have balm on 24/7/365, but next time I will try it alone. Either way, it did stay pretty well. It lasted through cereal, through therapy, and through my walk. It lightened up, but it still was on my lips regardless.
I loved it so much in fact that I even went on their website to purchase another color. I haven't made a purchase yet, because I can't decide on a color. I do wish they had a larger selection. The color Hero, which is a berry purple, will probably be my choice. The price is average considering the brand and type of makeup, at $25 each, but the tube is pretty big, so you get what you pay for. Limited ingredients, none of the nasty stuff, and works well. I'm sold! I signed up for their emails so next time there's a sale I can hopefully snag one at a good price. A pretty lip can really make all the difference in your look! Check out their website, and see for yourself!
