You guys may remember a few weeks ago I did a post on Arm the Animals new Operation Preservation line. If you haven't read that yet, please do! This line is so near and dear to my heart with the message it spreads. The facts are simple: pandas, elephants, lions, and rhinos are near extinction, so much closer than you can possibly imagine. This line brings awareness to that.
As you can read above, their mission is clear, and it's a beautiful mission. Save the animals! Is there anything more beautiful than that?!
Now that you know what ATA is about, I want to review the clothing itself. I only have one item by them, it was my first order (so far). So let's talk about that.
First of all, this panda shirt is from their Operation Preservation line. It reads: "Help, I am 1 of 1864 left." Which is short but so powerful and moving, and completely heart breaking. As someone who is an avid panda lover (they're tied with penguins for my most favorite animals ever), this speaks to me and I'll wear this shirt with the intention of spreading knowledge, hoping to raise awareness for this beautiful creatures.
As for the shirt itself, it's soft and comfy. The graphic is printed on there nicely and it looks sturdy. It doesn't feel like that hard crunchy graphic, it blends right into the shirt. They suggest you wash it inside out though to preserve the life of the design, which I do with any printed tshirt I own anyway.
Please be mindful when it comes to the sizes. There's a size chart and you should definitely read it before ordering. I got an XS, because on the website for this shirt it says unisex sizing. I already own another unisex baseball tshirt (from a different company) in a size S and it's huge, so an XS made the most sense to me. I chose the black and white and not the heather gray and white. The heather gray and white says it runs a size larger, and I didn't want it too big, so I figured an XS in black and white would fit the best. Upon receiving my shirt, I have a hard time believing these shirts are unisex sizing. It doesn't fit at all like a unisex size XS would. I realize every company is different, but this feels more like a women's size than anything. Also, they have a "women's" and "men's" version of this same shirt, so if it's unisex, why have two different listings? I'm grateful that this shirt fits me still, even with a tank top under it. But the opening for the sleeves around my forearm are slightly tight. It's no reason to return it, I'll just be sure to wash it with cold water and hang dry so it doesn't shrink. I would definitely suggest ordering your usual size, despite the unisex listing.
Something to also be mindful of is the production time. They're a small print to order company, and it says to allows 8-10 business days for your order to ship. I placed my order on Sat April 23rd, received an email that it shipped on Fri May 6th, and received it yesterday Mon May 9th. It took exactly 10 business days for it to ship, and arrived quickly after it did ship. So, if you plan on buying something from them as a present for someone, make sure to do it with ample time to spare. Give yourself at minimum 3 weeks before you need it to arrive.
Considering they donate part of their sales to helping animals, the prices are reasonable. This shirt was $28.99 which is about average. Shipping can get pricy though. This shirt was $6.95 to ship, and when I had more in my cart the shipping price jumped quickly. Just be mindful of that. I'm keeping my eye open for a free shipping code on their Instagram or in their email, so I can make my next purchase!
Overall, I'm completely happy with this purchase. There's something on there for every kind of animal lover in your life so be sure to check it out. Also, don't forget to follow them on Instagram and join their newsletter for updates and promotions!
Can one ever have enough vegan clothing? I didn't think so either. I recently ordered a shirt from Vegan Supply Co. and I'm so excited to talk to you about the shirt and the company today!
Vegan Supply Co. is a small company based out of California ran by a sweet lady named Coco. She started this business to combine two of her passions: veganism and fashion. Thus, Vegan Supply Co. was born! They use only water based inks on their products, they use American Apparel brand for their clothing, and all of their shipping products are either 100% recyclable or fully biodegradable. Fun, fashionable, and eco friendly! Yay!
Before I talk about the shirt, I first want to mention they're AMAZING customer service. Now, I'm not positive who runs their Instagram, but whoever does, is pretty amazing. I am a super picky person when it comes to clothing in general. I like my shirts slightly oversized but not a lot, soft and stretchy, and be comfortable above all else. I don't like the neckline to be so high I feel like I'm choking but I don't want it to low because I'm not trying to let the goods hang out. When you order online, you never know how sizing works, or how the shirt will feel, or the fit. And you know, everything always looks good on the model wearing it!
I commented on an Instagram post just asking about the sizing and which style would they recommend for my preference. And within minutes, she was kind enough to send me a DM of different shirts and styles, answer all of my questions, and make some recommendations based off what I liked. She even asked about my blog, and said she would read it and share it. Mind you, it was like 9pm on a Thursday night. Customer service to me is #1, and because of this amazing customer service I received, not only will I be a repeat buyer, but I'll buy products as presents for friends and family, and recommend it as often as I can. So, a very big high five to them for that!
They offer both men's, women's, and kid's apparel: in hoodies, tank tops, tshirts, and long sleeve shirts in a variety of different styles. They have so many colors to choose from they you rarely find in other places. Mint green, orchid purple, peach, different shades of greens and blues, pinks, and of course the usually black and white. They also offer tote bags and mugs too! Their designs are super simple, but effective. They have: Vegan, Plant Powered, Vegan Vibes, and lastly, Be The Change #govegan and all of these have different designs. Some have little hearts, some are in a circle, and some are just plain. The font is all the same and I really like the font they chose. It's simplistic yet fancy and fun. They offer the font in black or gold foil as well.
I chose this design:
I say vibes constantly, with everything lol. I'm always vibing or not vibing with something, so the Vegan Vibes design was perfect for me. The little hearts added a fun touch that I loved.
I adored the color, it's called orchid. Purple is my favorite color and I love all shades of purple, but I don't think I own any shirts this shade!
A size small is my usual size if I want something fitted, but I chose to get a medium so that it would be a little loose. I'm glad I did because it fits exactly how I like it to fit. I always wear a tank top under my tshirts so the extra room is great.
This shirt is super soft! It's a 50/50 blend of cotton and polyester so it's soft and stretchy. It's a scoop neck so the neckline is pretty much perfect too. It's form fitting so it flattering too, but it's not clingy. Basically, it's the perfect fit!
This shirt is $36, and the prices vary depending on which style you get. I find the price to be fair, especially considering 10% of their proceeds go to Kindred Spirits Farm Sanctuary in Ocala FL. Anytime a company donates to help save animals, I'm sold. Take all my money!
Absolutely check out their Instagram and give them a follow, also check out the different products they have to offer. You will not be disappointed!
I first saw this shade on Ella+Mila's Instagram. It's so soft and feminine, it's like a beautiful shade of ivory and pale pink mixed together. I thought it would be a perfect shade for the spring, and it's so universal it would match everything. I feel in love with it instantly and had to have it!
In case you're not familiar, Ella+Mila is 5 free cruelty free and vegan nail polish brand. Ella and Mila are actually the names of one of the founder's twin daughters. This company is focuses on offering high end polish that's eco friendly as well. They offer a wide variety of colors so they cater to everyone's color palette. They also offer cute Mommy and Me sets including a full size polish and a mini polish, which I think is adorable. Every bottle has their cute little elephant logo on it!
Pros and Cons:
-The color is equally as beautiful in person as it was on Instagram and on their website. I love it. I have an olive skin, and it looked really flattering! I think that darker skin tones would benefit even more from it! However, I think all skin tones would find this shade complementary.
-It's a color I like both on my fingers and my toes! You know how some look better on one or the other? This isn't one of those shades.
-The polish is really thin, and I found that I needed several coats to get adequate coverage. It might be because the color is so delicate, but I had to use so much product that my nails took literally forever to dry. This polish is supposed to be quick drying, which I'm sure it is if you don't need several coats.
-Again, because the color is so soft, I felt that it was a little streaky when applying it. It seemed to look okay once I was done though.
-This polish was $10.50, which isn't outrageous among cruelty free and vegan polishes. Pacifica is $9 and Deco Miami is $9.50. Then, there's brands like Trust Fund Beauty that's $15 and Habit that are $18. So the price range is about in the middle.
-I felt like the polish had a great shine to it, even before I applied my top coat. It has that wet look to it, which I like.
-No nail polish smells good, however, I felt the scent of this one wasn't as strong as other ones I've used. That was a pleasant surprise.
-Shipping was completely free! I only bought one polish too. I'm not sure if it's a special they're offering, which I didn't see anywhere listed that it was, or if that's a permanent thing. Either way, it was awesome. Be warned that shipping did take a little more time than I had anticipated. I ordered this April 23rd and received it today May 3rd. Considering shipping was free I'm not at all complaining, I just wanted to inform you guys.
Overall I liked this polish and loved this color. I do plan on trying out other shades, because they have so many pretty colors to chose from!
I was really excited to receive this month's LaMini box. Unfortunately, this is the last one I'm getting since I cancelled it. We're going on vacation in October so I definitely don't need to beauty boxes a month, even though I want them all. I'll still be receiving Petit Vour boxes though, don't worry!
I was super excited for this box because of the oil that was coming in it. I love skin/hair/nail oils so much! The timing was so perfect too because I had just gotten out of the shower! I heard my mail man come so really quick, I threw on my robe and ran downstairs, grabbed my box, and ran back upstairs lol.
The Toogga Desert Date Oil is for your whole body. The oil is unroasted and cold pressed right from the Toogga nut. I'm going to be honest with you, I haven't the slightest clue what a Toogga nut is, but according to the website, it's got a lot of benefits! It helps reduce wrinkles, it's high in antioxidant and unsaturated fatty acids Omega 6 and Omega 9, it's anti-microbial and anti-fungal, and it's helps with scarring, acne, sunburns, and rashes. All of these benefits are bottled in an amber glass jar to maintain the integrity of the product. So whatever a Toogga nut is, I'm down with it.
It absorbs very easily and didn't leave my skin oily at all. Still, it's not something I could just put on and go in the morning before work. It's an oil so while it does absorb fast, it still needs time to absorb. I applied it all over my body, except for my face and hair. It made my skin very soft, but I feel like I still needed to reapply it at the end of the day. It didn't keep my skin as soft and supple as I prefer. I didn't need to use a lot either, I used less than 1/4 of the bottle on my whole body. I started with three drops as they suggested but I definitely needed a few more drops to adequately apply it to my legs.
The scent is really hard to explain. I wouldn't say that it smells good, but it also doesn't smell bad. I feel like it smells slightly burnt somehow. I feel like in my mind I imagined it would smell sweet, but it didn't. So, I think more so I was let down by it not smelling how I thought it would in my mind. The scent doesn't last and it's not a strong scent either, so that's a plus for me. It probably doesn't sound it, but I actually like this oil and I look forward to using it continuously to see if there are any benefits to my skin.
This bottle is actually full size and it retails for $19, but it's on sale right now on their website for $16 with free shipping so definitely check it out! They offer other oils, and even a culinary version of the Toogga oil for cooking!
I was pretty excited to try the Leo & Goa Pearlies packet because oil pulling is something I'm not at all familiar with, but was excited to try. I remember reading something briefly about it a few years back, and thinking I would try it, but I never did. Basically, oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic tradition that helps with cleaning your mouth and whitening your teeth by using the oil to bind to the bacteria from your teeth that can't be brushed away, thereby "pulling" it from your teeth. Seems easy enough!
The instructions are simple: pour contents of packet into your mouth, swoosh around for 5-15 minutes, spit out the oil, then brush your teeth.
Upon opening the packet, I thought it smelled good. It had a minty scent to it so I assumed peppermint oil was an ingredient. The main ingredient is clearly coconut oil, and there must be a nut ingredient because the packet says to not use if your allergic to nuts. I'm not sure of the full ingredients list, but the packet does say that it's 100% natural. Also, I know that the ingredients are organic as well, which is a bonus for me!
As is turns out, oil pulling makes me gag. I barely got the oil into my mouth before wanting to spit it back out. It's not that it tasted bad or anything like that, it's a texture thing I think. I'm a really texture sensitive person, I can't even have an ounce of sticky on my finger before having a stroke. Also, I have really sensitive gag reflexes too. Have you ever been in the shower and your soaping up your leg to get ready to shave, and you just put the handle of your razor in your mouth to hold it while you lather up? I can't do that, even that makes me gag. So really, I'm not surprised that's how I reacted to this. I literally had to sit over my sink to make it through five minutes, which was a real struggle for me. I couldn't even swoosh it be used every time I did I thought I was gonna vomit. I was so excited to spit it out and brush my teeth afterwards!
I can say that the oil really didn't have much of a taste, but the peppermint was apparent while it was in my mouth. Also, the packets must come with a lot of product (or I have a really tiny mouth), because I feel like I could've easily used only half of it and that would've been plenty. Even though I had a bad experience that doesn't mean this is a bad product so absolutely check it out if you think oil pulling is for you. Leo & Goa have an Instagram and while I don't think their products have gone live yet, you should follow them to get the latest updates!
I'm not a huge lipstick fan, but I was really excited to try this Vegocentric Lipstick by Lippie Girl. This Canadian PETA certified company offers a variety of makeup products, with lip products being their main focus. They're a vegetarian company, but they offer a lot of vegan products as well. For their lipsticks, their ingredients are natural, organic, and wild crafted. The tubes are 100% recyclable aluminum as well. Eco friendly all around!
I was most excited for this color, because it's really natural. It's called Rosey Posey as I mentioned above, but it's not overly red or pink. It's like a shade darker than my natural lip color. My Granny, rest her soul, always told me I had pretty rosebud lips, and that's what this makes me think of. Its neutral enough to be flattering on any skin tone as well. It's like your natural lip color, but better! It's a great color for work since it's not too bold; it's a classic twist on your casual day time lip. Because the color is so natural, you can pair it with any outfit without it clashing!
The application is super smooth and creamy. The color payoff is really nice as well. It's not shimmery or glittery, it just looks so natural. I didn't find that this lipstick bled at all, which is great! I didn't have to worry about getting any on my teeth! I did notice some color on my straw for my smoothie, but that was to be expected. I applied lip balm underneath and on top as well, and even when I reapplied my balm on top I could still see some color remaining on my lips. It felt more moisturizing on my lips than a lot of other lip sticks I've tried in the past too.
Lippie Girl is a Canadian company so all of their products are listed in CAD price. This tube retails for 23 CAD which roughly converts to $18.32 USD. They do offer shipping to the USA! Follow them on Instagram and check out their website to see all the products they offer! They offer a wide variety of other colors in this lipstick so is Rosey Posey doesn't look like your thing, I think you'll be able to find one you like when you check the rest of them out!
This was a pretty awesome LaMini box and I'm sad to have to cancel it. It was a great value with great products! The two products alone valued near $38, and that's without the Pearlies packet considering I can't put a price on that. This box offered a good bang for your buck!
