Hey guys! I'm sorry I've been inactive on here as of lately, but March has been a happening month for me. I've been doing a lot around my apartment (I redid my bathroom!), celebrated both my mom and my best friend's birthday (they're both March 10th), and my shows are coming back on. In addition to work, taking care of a husband and 3 cats, cooking, cleaning and laundry; it's been crazy!
Before we get into anything, I just wanted to talk about some changes I've made to my blog! First, you'll see a new logo for The Vegan Crazy Cat Lady! Of course, the cute fluffy cat you see in the picture again is Tabby, aka the princess cat. I wanted the logo to have a retro 50's summer vibe. And I redid the layout of the blog as well, with a new format and new colors. I also updated the About Me section and the Contact section! I really want to make sure you guys know you can ALWAYS contact me! Whether you leave a comment here, send me an email, message me on Facebook, DM me on Instagram, however, I'm here for you guys! Any questions or comments, I will absolutely do my best to answer them!
Okay! Let's talk about LaRitzy! LaRizty offers two subscription boxes: the LaMini and the LaRitzy. Both of which are free shipping within the USA, $5 for Canadian orders, and $10 for international orders. The LaMini is the smaller of the two boxes. For $14.99 a month, this box includes 2-3 full and luxury sizes items. These items vary from skincare to makeup to hair products. The LaRizty box is essentially a larger version of the LaMini box. For $24.99 a month, you get 4-5 full and luxury size skincare, makeup, and/or hair products. You can either get billed monthly, which they automatically deduct it from the card on file, or do a 3 month prepay which is $69.99, or a 12 year prepay which is $239.99. The value of the LaRitzy box typically values around $60, but some boxes have been valued $100+!
I'm a subscription box junkie. I want all the boxes! Sadly, I can't afford all of them. But I was fortunate enough to actually receive a LaMini box for free, thanks to a coupon code they emailed to celebrate their birthday. Only 20 people got free boxes and I was on it as soon as I received it lol. The box is a cute little white box, with a cute little pink piggy face on top. Here's some pictures of the box itself and the goodies inside:
I was really surprised when I opened my box to see 4 decently sized items in my LaMini. I was anticipating 2-3, so 4 was a pleasant surprise. I don't know if that was just a special considering it was their birthday box, I'm not positive considering this is my first box. The one thing I didn't like was that it didn't come with a card like the Petit Vour box does, that tells you how to use the products and briefly explains what it is and how much it's valued. I like to know what I'm getting for my money, so I appreciate that Petit Vour includes that, and wish LaMini would as well.
Here's what I got:
The little green bunnies were not included, but I've been so obsessed with them ever since I bought them at Michael's I find a way to incorporate them in like every photo I take lol.
I received: Lippy Girl Lip Gloss in Extra Virgin, Cucumber Milk Facial Cleanser by Lather, Lemon Body Scrub by Otavea, and Pink Sand Eye Shadow by Modern Minerals. Like I previously stated, there's no indicator of the box value so I did my best to research it for you guys to give you an approximate value!
First up, Lippy Girl Lip Gloss...
This is actually full size, and the value of this is $15 CAD which is roughly $11.46 USD. As the name implies, this Extra Virgin gloss contains only natural ingredients meant to moisturize and leave lips shiny! This lip gloss is clear, so it's perfect for those who just want a little shine with no color. With Tamanu, Orange, and Rosehip oils, your lips will taste as good as they look!
Next up, Cucumber Milk Facial Cleanser...
This is a 2 oz sample, and the regular 6 oz version costs $19, so this is valued at around $6.33. This non-foaming cleanser seems to be targeted towards those with dry and maturing skin. Cucumber and sea algae extracts work together to remove dirt, clean and tighten pores, and discourage skin from sagging. My mom will probably love this, so I might pass this one to her to try.
Next up, Pink Sand Eyeshadow by Modern Minerals...
On the Modern Mineral's website they offer this for $16. This eye shadow is 2oz and there's nothing on the website indicating what the full size is, and this one looks about the same size as the one online, so I'm gonna go with it being full size and valuing it at $16. This color is so pretty. It's a neutral earthy pink shade that's perfect for every day use; alone, blended with other colors, or as a base. It looks to be flattering on all skin tones as well!
Last up, Lemon Body Scrub by Otavea.
I believe this is a 2 oz size, which cost $6. This body scrub looks more oily than thick, so I think it will be great for moisturizing your skin. It contains real lemon peel and lemon essential oils so I hope the fragrance will smell real as a result of that. Lemon also is known to brighten skin, so I hope that it has that effect as well!
That's it for the reveal! Stay tuned for the review part, which you will see in another post!
As for the value of this box, it's about $39.79 which is about the same at the Petit Voir boxes that go for the same cost. I might try this one another month or two and see which I prefer before I cancel one. So far, Petit Voir is the winner for me, but well see!
A few months ago, around the start of the holiday season, I did a post about some of my favorite small businesses and shops to get vegan and animal loving merch. I made some new purchases since then and I wanted to share them with you guys!
I feel like I can't stress to you guys enough how much I love Christy Robinson Designs on Etsy. First, Christy herself is an absolute sweetheart. She provides amazing customer service, and is really a professional. I had this Cat Lady necklace custom made. She was so helpful and accommodating to what I wanted. I also ordered a present for a friend from her, a cute bracelet with a "Not A Nuggetl chickie charm, and my friend loved it! Her products are totally affordable (this necklace and my friends bracelet being $16 each), and the quality is top knotch. Here's a photo of my new necklace next to my old necklace:
I've had that Vegan Bunny necklace since May 1, 2015 and I've worn it every day, and it still looks brand new as you can see compared to my new Cat Lady necklace which at that point I hadn't even worn yet. That was the day I got it! She offers aluminum charms, which is what mine are, or silver. I prefer the aluminum because they're light and keep really well. Absolutely check out her shop on Etsy!
This is my newest shirt from the Vegan Police Shop, based in Canada, and also available through Etsy. They offer a sale section, which is where I was able to snag this super cute tank top for $20, shipping included! The purple is so beautiful this picture doesn't do it justice. It's super soft, just like my "Ferocious Vegan" tank top and hoodie I've got from them! And the message is one that's true and near and dear to my little vegan heart! They offer really cute apparel and lunch bags, as well as pins and stickers! Check them out!
You can follow both of these awesome shops on Instagram, which I highly suggest you do!
I feel like I've been waiting forever for this day to come! I've been using Pacifica for years, and over the last year they've really expanded their line, and I've loved pretty much every single thing I've tried. And I had always hoped to see a hair care line, and when I saw a few months ago they were releasing it, I was thrilled! I'm just so beyond excited to see it in stores! This is from my local Ulta, where I went today and have to stop myself from buying one of everything lol.
This collection pretty much covers it all. The Super Kale shampoo and conditioner ($10 each) is geared towards oily hair, and it cleanses and protects. The Coconut Power shampoo and conditioner ($10 each) is for dry damaged hair to help cleanse it and an protect it to make it grow long and strong. The Well Conditioned ($16) is shampoo and conditioner in one! The Coconut Super Power ($16) is a hair mask to deeply condition your locks. Best Day Ever ($14) is a 10 in 1 balm that extends the life of your hair between washes and covers an array of hair care issues to keep your hair looking freshly styled even if it's not. Hairvana ($14) is a leave in conditioner. Ginger Root ($14) is a volumizing spray which you apply to your roots to give you that va-va-voom look. Flower Oil Hair Hydration ($14) nourishes and helps seal dead ends and leave your hair full of moisture and looking shiny. And lastly, Tame Gloss Anti-Frizz ($14) helps fight frizz and keep your hair silky smooth.
I bought the Coconut Power Shampoo but not the conditioner because I have Clinical Luxury Hair Smoothie I just ordered (on sale for Leap Day!) that I'm using as my conditioner and detangler. I also got the Coconut Super Power Hair Mask to use a few times a week to deeply condition my hair. I am so excited to try these out and give you guys a review! Keep your eyes peeled!
Happy March friends! Spring is in the air, Easter is around the corner, birds are chirping; it's a beautiful thing! Right now, I'm in full spring mode. So when I saw this pretty bottle of Method cleaner at Target, I just had to get it! It was actually convenient because they were out of my favorite scent anyway, so win win all around!
You may remember I did a post a few months ago about vegan and cruelty free cleaning products, and Method dominated that list. Method is my go to brand for several reasons:
1) They're easily accessible to most people. If you have a Target nearby, they sell Method.
2) Their products really work well, and leave my apartment feeling and smelling clean.
3) They're decently priced.
4) They offer a lot of different items, so one brand can pretty much clean your entire house.
5) Their ingredients are natural but effective.
This particular design is a limited edition collaboration with Brooklyn based artist and designer Rebecca Atwood. I checked out her website, and her designs are a little pricey but nice. Her designs have a modern feel to them. She makes home decor, such as pillows and table cloths. I think she did a great design for this collection. It's simple but pretty, and it's the perfect color choices to put you in that Spring state of mind! She's done other designs for Method in the past as well!
The scent is Sweet Citrus, and it smells really lovely and inviting! You get notes of mandarin and oranges with a little lime and lemon zest. It's a refreshing and clean smell that really awakens the senses. It's like spring in a bottle. It makes you want to open up all the windows and air your house out! This scent also has hand soap, a soy based candle, and dish soap as well.
I used this on my wooden vanity, my bathroom mirrors, my kitchen counters, and my stove top. I liked it best on my counters and stove top. I liked it the least on my mirrors. They were streaky, so I wouldn't suggest using this on glass. However, Target does have a glass cleaner that I use and love, but I wanted to try this on glass so I could post about its effectiveness on glass surfaces. On my vanity, which is black woo, it was a little streaky at first but it looked fine after it dried completely. Every surface I used it on (except for the glass), looked and felt clean and smelled fresh!
Even though it failed on glass, it was great everywhere else and I would absolutely re-purchase this scent again. I've been using Method's all purpose cleaners for years now, and they are my favorites because I can use them throughout my entire apartment. This scent, as well as the others, retails for $3.49 and can be found at Target stores, Target online, and Method's website.
